An East Midlands High Speed Train travelling from Whitby to Derby. The train stops at the signal box just before the level crossing in order for the driver to give the token to the signaller, then powers on its way.

Great vid . I do like them old intercity 125s. Seen them in quite a few places and loved them and their sounds .

Awesome vid. A HST on the NYMR is surreal really. I remember the HSTs being introduced into service and now they are being preserved! This begs a question when the 225 (class 91) reach their end will the like of the NYMR have to be electrified?

It was a rail tour. HSTs would never normally be anywhere near the Whitby line.

Paxman is the engine of some HST sets paxman valenta is the 1st engine, VP185 the 2nd and MTU the 3rd it's just the engine of the power cars.

The Paxman Valenta is revered because of it's turbocharger. Full-chat sounds like a Rolls-Royce turbofan jet on max thrust. A Banshee scream in other words.
It's a smokey noisy old diesel. That's all.

@@asjbfjbkaw So it's not a thing off beauty worthy of admiration. It's a climate and civilisation killer, way past its sell by date, just like coal powered steam locomotives. I would ban the operation of all steam coal powered locomotives and consign them to museums and static displays, same as diesels. ALL trains in this day and age should by now be electric.
