The Philosophy of Averroes (Ibn Rushd)

Here we will travel back to the year 1150 of the common era in order that we may illuminate one who is perhaps the most influential figure of Islamic philosophy. He was known to his people as Abu al-Walid Muhammad ibn Rushd and to the western philosophic tradition as simply Averroes.
Sources: To the generous men and women who published these resources, especially Stanford’s article concerning Averroes, I cannot say thank you enough. Without such articles this video would not be possible without the purchase of countless books.

Excellent video! Ibn Rushd is very underrated compared to other philosophers of his time.

When I was young I started reading for AlGhazali, he was less "controversial" giving the muslim community I grew up in but I wasn't so impressed, all respect to AlGhazali but he was extremely biased, then I found a whole book for Ibn rushd dedicated as comments on AlGhazali claimes and it was not the same since then, amazing video.

Really likey this video but I would like to highlight this fact that ibn Taymiyyah was indeed influenced by ibn Rushd's theological which was later on championed by Athari/ salafi schools although ibn Rushd never dogmatically associated him with Ashari school which al-muwahidun but I can understand the fact that ibn Rushd's fiercy critique of Asharis of time may have pissed of of Asharis at court of muwwahid Khalifa

Philosophy died with Descartes, classical metaphysical perennial philosophy from Pythagoras to Plato to Averroes to Aquinas is the way… Guénon strikes again. Crisis of the modern world.

What a delusional and ridiculous statement. There is lots of great modern philosophy, from Marx to Husserl to Sarte to Derrida to Butler to Halberstam, you just don’t like it because it doesn’t uphold your bizarre and incoherent worldview. Guenon’s work is literal gibberish.
