And after you've processed the cap hold issue you should read up on the "incomplete roster charge" it's not huge in $$ the way cap holds are but it does affect the calculation

I think I’d rather us resign Kelly and let go of Buddy and not sign Gary Trent. I’d also keep Ricky Council. Other than that, I like this hypothetical roster. Although I’d look into us potentially drafting Edey instead of Carter and then signing Pat Bev again to fill out the guard spot. (We wouldn’t sign Plumlee in that hypothetical). I do really like the idea of us getting Chris Paul though. A CP3 and Embiid P&R would be pretty damn good and even at his advanced age, he could definitely be a good backup point guard.

Yeah I figured in this hypothetical Oubre doesn’t want to go to the bench. He took a pay cut this season to get himself a solid contract/role again. Maybe he would be cool with it but I don’t know that seems odd to me. I think Buddy is a great fit for this team as well so I personally would rather have him. Edey would be an interesting pick for sure I could see that. I don’t think you can get Bev though since you traded him this season. Otherwise I would agree with the logic haha.

Markkanen would be cool but they don’t seem to want to move him. Mikal would be dope, would cost a lot but probably doable. Butler I just don’t see it happening, I don’t think they need to trade BI either. That’s kinda the thing with this series I wanna operate as much in the world of realism as possible. Obviously those can happen I just don’t think it’s all that likely. Tyus would be a dope addition as well!

@@_AVC_ yeah considering all three are guys we’d have to trade for and we only have five firsts. Maybe 2 firsts does it for Portland. Maybe 2 or 3 seconds gets Caruso. I don’t think 3 firsts and Paul reed does it for butler or Lauri, but likely Ingram. Maxey - Caruso - Ingram - Grant - Embiid is a really good possibility, but likely a pipe dream.

If healthy (big question) Melton is way better than Cam. Not even a question. I would love to upgrade Paul but I don’t know who it would be, the center market is dry. So I figured at least he knows the system ya know? Not a ton of 3&D wings either everyone has them locked up 😅.

@@_AVC_ honestly man, Plumlee himself is an upgrade over Paul. But I’d be more interested in the other Clippers center, Zubac. Even with the upgraded roster, we are still going to need to spell Embiid next post season, especially with him being one year older.

I think you commented earlier so I believe I know what you are talking about. Normally I wouldn't do it but I did go and run the numbers again. Still works. If you want a breakdown of it use the link I gave ya and hop on the discord and we can walk it through together later today or something.

I think your only problem with building "legally" is that you're not factoring in cap holds, with the returning players besides Tyrese signing mostly minimums or very low deals thats just an order of operations issue. I think they almost definitely trade the 16th pick as well, and maybe the 2nd rounder too.

No yeah you are 100% right. I figured if I put that much into the video that’s the line where I lose entertainment value. We can still accomplish everything in the video but yes it’s an OoO issue. Too many numbers isn’t good for views haha. As far as the pick I can see it either way. Pros and cons to both.

Devin Carter would be great here! I believe he has a lotto guarantee though.

I really like this roster, the only things I would say are that I wouldn’t trade that 2028 Clippers pick just yet, that may have some real value later. Also instead of Chris Paul, I would try to bring Kyle Lowry back. Another thing is that Paul Reed’s salary is no longer guaranteed to he could be cut or maybe included in a trade.

My assumption was that Lowry would sign with like a high tier contender, but yeah having him back would be cool! I could see holding the pick, if the team can be patient it makes sense. The reason I kept Paul Reed is because centers are very much not available right now. So I figured he already knows the team/system so we just stick it out with him.

Maybe they are maybe they won’t be. Regardless, you think they will be. Which means the value is high right now. Cam Johnson is a hell of a basketball player. Might be a perfect fit next to Embiid as well. I think it makes a ton of sense. Plus you’re trying to win now 😂.

Maybe 🤷🏻‍♂️. I think the middle level guys are gonna get underpaid this offseason. With the cap rules slightly adjusting some more I think teams are gonna be pretty hesitant to give guys anything too crazy. As soon as you get into those aprons you’re locking yourself in to the team you got.

For the money you’d spend getting Cam Johnson, I’d want Philly to inquire about the cost for Kyle Kuzma. I like Kuz as a guy who can fit as a third/fourth option, but can catch fire and take over on occasion if he gets hot. For a similar salary, I feel Kuz offers a little more certainty than Cam.

Paul George makes the most sense obviously and thats who Morey will most likely target however I think the 76ers should reach out to Chicago to try to acquire Lavine & Caruso in a package deal. Unfortunately De'Anthony Melton will probably get a decent contract somewhere else despite playing only 39 games. I even have seen reports stating that he may get 40 to 60 million total. Even if those numbers are way off he's definitely getting more then the minimum. In that case Cam Payne coming back will be perfect. I like the idea of Naji Marshall, CP3 & Gary Trent Jr 100%. I also think they part ways with Paul Reed. Not worth the contract honestly. The 76ers are going to need as much cap as possible to spread things around. I would love the idea of Daniel Theis or Drummond as the backup 5. Lastly, I Love the idea of drafting Devin Carter at 16 however I have no interests in trading for Cameron Johnson from Brooklyn especially for 2 firsts.

Maybe if theirs protections I can MAYBE get behind it however Cam Johnson had a down year last year and he's been hurt a lot throughout his career. Played 58 games last year, played 42 games the year before that. Hes more along the lines of a role player. If I'm paying multiple 1sts I need more overall production & consistency coming from that player.

Great video but you didn’t account for Maxey $13 mil cap hold. So you essentially only have $15 mil after the PG13 signing. a trade for Cam Johnson wouldn’t be possible into just pure cap space.

Well there are ways around that still, you can relinquish those cap holds prematurely (which leads to another interesting process haha), including trade kickers/exceptions, etc. So yeah you are 100% correct it’s not as simple as I made it seem but it is still doable. In a vacuum it’s actually hilarious. Anyway. Okay what do we do then to make it better. You need to back up your statement with a plan! I pers think this team can go pretty far and maybe get lucky. Respect the effort, but not the knowledge of the team....clearly you don't value defense or recognize that this team needs to get more athletic. Adding Cam Johnson, Gary Trent, and Buddy Hield? Thankfully Morey also watched games and realized the Buddy Hield thing didn't work. He barely played in the playoffs. The Sixers need Athleticism / Rebounding from their PF. They need 3&D from the wing. And they need a 2-way guard with decent size. Gary Trent, Buddy Hield, and Cam Johnson address NONE of that. Sorry for harsh criticism but this is a lot of words without detail and real insight into building a team. The sixers defense would be horrendous with Johnson Trent and Hield. ew

I would say Gary Trent addresses the need for a bigger guard alongside Maxey in the backcourt with the ability to shoot. The issue there is whether or not he would want to play for Nurse again.
