One of my very favorites of all movies! Humphrey fresh off his role on broadway as Duke Mantee! Leslie Howard is the golden angel.
I first watched this movie in 1958 when I was 11 years old. It stuck in my mind for decades until I bought it on VHS. Wore the tape out. The bold, raw statements of emotions still affect me terribly. Just watched the trailer and couldn't help from crying. I've loved this movie for 65 years and will till I die.

I remember enjoying this film over a year ago and I thought that the ending was bold. Especially for 1936.
Bette Davis, her eyes and face at the poetry reading. OMG her acting with her eyes is un matched... this is a superb movie, they just don't make movies even close to this these days... this movie, now voyager, all about eve, of human bondage, what happened to baby Jane, hush sweet charlotte. Jesabelle. The letter. Another mans poison...OMG none better.
'Listen to him: Is it all right Mr. Chisum? Ain't you heared about the liberation? Take your drink, colored brother.' Love that scene.
Bogart and Howard reprising their Broadway roles of 1935
Bette Davis was a beautiful young woman who bears an uncanny resemblance to Susan Sarandon.

@Killer Joe Hardly. Leslie Howard was a hell of a screen presence but there's no question that Bogart takes over the picture when he appears.

@@ricardocantoral7672 I think they meant it's Bogart's first big film, they studio heads didn't want to keep him from the play, wanted Edward G. Robinson instead for the film version but Leslie Howard said he'd quit if they didn't bring on Bogart so they did, and then Bogart and Bacall named their kid after him since he died in WW2, sadly. Sorry for the history lesson I just love this film
I so wanted to love this movie but I just thought it was Ok. I actually liked a lot of it but didn't like the ending.
