Considering how remarkable some of the real life stories of Thomas and Friends were, I can't hide my disappointment with the fact that a pair of trousers did not, somehow, snake themselves around that engine's funnel in the events that inspired A Scarf for Percy. Even still, that one is still really funny.

Here’s another one for you folks. Allegedly, the crash in Percy’s Chocolate Crunch may have been inspired from an accident in 1982 were a New Jersey transit train crashed through a spaghetti factory. Can’t confirm it, but still interesting even if it ends up being a coincidence

Percy is scarily good at surviving anything. It raises questions that can't be answered

what hasn’t this green caterpillar been throw, a run away, fallen into a coal pit, several plunges into the water throughout all eras of the show, crashed into a brake van, crashed into a lime cart, get covered in treacle only to be covered further in hay, covered in jam, scared by a paper dragon smashed into a van full of fruits and veggies, buried alive in a land slide, becomes jack frost, scared of gnomes, smashes through an entire chocolate factory, constantly getting dirty, gets gordon covered in oil, and much much more that i can’t even bother keeping track after season 8. I wouldn’t even be surprised if the little green goblin survived a blitz during ww2 and just barley scrapes by unharmed.

Fun fact of the day! Diesel 10 was rumoured to be a real British Warship modified by British Railways for maintenance on the railway, due to rubble, trees and such on the line Note this is rumoured, and just something to share! Great video btw-

LOL! Percy has a lot of “amusing” stories, but I didn’t know that those stories were based on real life occasions! Except for Percy’s Promise, I knew that one

Holdall is a small bag/suitcase it sort of sits between the too being more easy to carry then a suit case and smaller in size but being a bit bigger then a bagpack. Think of it like an over night bag or something you'd use to go around railways with when you've got lots of business meetings or taking visiting passengers on a tour of the railway and portmanteau being another word for large travel bag typically made out of strong leather

There is another incident that may have also inspired Percy's promise, I think there's pictures of it.

The pronunciation of “Hunstanton” was spot on. Funnily enough, that line was actually called the Lynn to Hunstanton Line, having been worked by the Great Eastern Railway.

Till this day I’ll never get over the fact that this actually happened in real life

The scene where Percy crashed into the luggage from Percy and the Trousers will later be recreated in CGI, btw.

While I'm amazed that 'A Scarf for Percy' really happened, I'm also amazed at how complex Awdry's description of it was. It's so detailed and intricate, that it makes me wonder what would a book of his made for adults would have looked like.
