Nice job Shane. It’s amazing what happens when you just put up an antenna isn’t it?

Yea, this is the first antenna I have ever built. I was floored when HI came in so clear then Brazil gave me that signal report. I put the Buddistick pro on the patio tuned for 10m and got Portugal and Cape Verde contest stations. #havingfunwithhamradio

A nice, simple project that allows any radio amateur the ability to escape the confines of his/her apartment or condo. Well done! Aloha de Russ (KH6JRM).

Shane, I love it that you are building and experimenting with antennas you can save so much money and with a buddy that can print up a nice part make it look way more professional. Next time don't separate the speaker wire and solder the end to continue the wire back that way you don't need to use tape. Check out the Cobra dipole antennas same concept but as a doublet. Great work on the build!! 73

Thank you Chuck. You know when I was researching this the article was using ladder line that was shorted at the end. I don’t know why it didn’t dawn on me to just strip the und just make it one wire lol.

@@K5QBF yea same concept and you can go back again. I built one with cat5 I think. Found some with it all side by side and flat. It was a pain with that tint wire but it worked.

Winding the feed coax a few turns through a ferrite ring close to the dipole end would stop current in the shield of the feed coax to prevent it radiating.

I actually ordered a pack to test. Where the coax turns from the patio to go up. A few turns there wouldn’t put any additional weight on the center.

If you can get close to a window, you can use a loop mounted on a tripod. I’d probably try and distance myself from the radio and keep the power down. There’s also portable in any local park.
