Tiger Mountain mountain bike trails are fast, flowy, rooty, exhilarating....all of the things that make mountain biking in the PNW the absolute best. Welcome to The Perfect Ride a mountain bike trail guide of Tiger Mountain, WA.
Hopping on a new set of trails without a local friend can be intimidating. Which loop should I do? How long is the climb? Where do we turn again? Today, we'll demystify Tiger mtn trails so you can tackle your ride with confidence. Enjoy this quick guide to a 1.5 to 2 hours ride at Tiger Mountain, an awesome mix-used trail system (but let's be honest best for mountain bikes) just outside of Seattle in Issaquah, WA.
Keep in mind that this is just a small taste of all the available trails in this system and that your fitness and trail conditions will affect ride time, so the time-frame is just an estimate. Happy riding!

    @@ClaireJencks I totally get it! Yeah, your stuff is great, and your riding. 😳Actually, can I get your reccs for a starting progression? I'm a very experienced roadie looking to get into some MTB on the side. I don't know what I don't know, but fast flow looks super appealing. I'm thinking start at Duthie for some skills progression stuff, then focus on the blue trails there a bit, then move over to some blue Tiger, or?

    Oooh fun! Welcome to the MTB world! I started on fixed gears years ago and switched to MTB awhile back. All wheels are great! 🚲As for recs....you and go wrong with Tiger or the front side of Raging. You’ll definitely get a lot of practice via laps at Duthie, though the weekends have been pretty crowded there this year. I’d start with Gravy Train, Ryan’s Eternal Flow and Voodoo Child. Pump tracks will also do wonders for your tech progressions by teaching you how to leverage the terrain effectively. Can’t wait to hear how your journey goes!

    Ooooh you moved to the right place for flowy downhill and tech. I’d definitely recommend a lap up Raging River for CCDH and PT (the latter depending on your spicyness comfort level). Tiger also dishes out a bunch more routes. I’ll be posting more as the snow lets up in a month or two. Tokul is a fantastic winter ride - check out my other vids on Tokul and Raging) feel free to fast forward to the middle/end for the downhill bits). Nice riding!! You made EBAD look casual! Funny I came across this as my riding buds and I were just 'debating' the perfect ride and this ride is what we agreed on. Except we added OTG (when theres no snow and you can get to the summit!) and the recently improved NOTG!

    Thanks Jake! I'm so glad you enjoyed the route. I totally agree on the addition of OTG and NOTG. If you're feeling a really burly day I also like to ride up to the summit, take Prestons, and then head back up to take OTG and continue on the rest of the ride. Tiger is so good any way you choose to go! Out of curiosity, what are your other favorite places to ride?

    @@ClaireJencks Exit 27/Raging is my other fave. Soooo many trails there.... My new fave loop is a variation on the Raging Lollipop -- instead of returning via the Ridge Trail after climbing out Rerturn Policy, head down Canyon Creek DH (or PT upper/middle/lower if you are wanting slightly more spice), then make your way over to Poppin>Flow. Big fun. Hope to see you out on the trails!

    Lol, I'm over here on a DH bike thinking, "Huh, only two hours? I should be able to push up the loop before work tomorrow." Love the editing and merging your recommendations with TrailForks was extremely helpful.

    Hey Jordan! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video. I’d agree that a DH bike on that loop is definitely more of an undertaking - if you want to add even more to your all day adventure, head all the way to the summit and take OTG to NOTG. And for even more, you can add summit to Prestons to summit to OTG. That would be a super burly day. I’m putting out a similar format Raging River video tomorrow that you might like as well. Stay tuned and I’ll see you out there!

    Thanks for another great video, Claire! It's really cool to watch, and learn :) I think it would be cool to see more of you (which is why I think audiences often 'tune in' these days) riding steep sections or challenging sections and talking about the lines you choose etc. Plus, like other celebrities, it's a person who helps make a movie good. The voice-over is very useful, but gets a little boring. Just giving honest feedback for you to consider! :)

    I've never been up to OTG, I have been avoiding blacks since I'm still not that great, but it looks like it's really not that bad. For reference, I'm pretty comfortable doing Inside Passage and Joy Ride. OTG did not look worse than those. At least I can give it a try. Thanks!

  • @ClaireJencks

    @ClaireJencks

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hi David! Thanks for the kudos. For OTG it's difficulty depends on the weather and your cardio. At its heart, it's on the lighter side of a black diamond. OTG is flow trail with a surprisingly long descent - add in some rock gardens that get greasy when wet and you'll be out of breath by the end. Especially when Tiger has had a recent rain it's the easier choice than NOTG. Of course the faster you go the harder it gets.
