The Perfect Razer Blade Gaming Laptop!

Ғылым және технология

Razer laptops are some of the most expensive gaming laptops on the market and happen to be some of the better gaming laptops I've reviewed. Razer Blade 14 2021 , Razer Blade 15 and Razer Blade 17 fit very different niches. However, I feel for its price point a few tweaks could make these awesome gaming machines even better. Best laptop 2021.

This style of video is awesome. And you covered all the things I wish it had. The only thing left out is that it needs more battery life (zephyrus g14 has 10 hours of light use, blade 14 only has around 5-6), because these things are made to be portable, so battery matters.

Loved the video. Good to know what are the downsides when looking for laptops too. I agree with the logo for sure, I love the overall design but the logo is too much. Perhaps have it as LED lighting up that can be turned off from software. Also, offer some colour choices like the silver 13'. I feel like it's asking for a skins on it just to keep the design more quiet, helping with fingerprints too. RAM is essential, or at least give option to buy up to 32GB if soldered. Why is there no thunderbolt with intel cpu? The charger is understandably big, I would likely buy a seperate 100w USB-C charger for outdoors usage. Agree with 16:10 as well, surely will make it's way to the blade in future. Touchscreen would be a nice extra touch. Webcam isn't essential but I feel like they can do decent 1080p without much sacrifice at the price. People don't realise they need a webcam until they do. Overall they do an excellent job and I'm learned towards blade 14 instead of G14. A tough choice.

I also agree with your 16:10 aspect ratio recommendation. My daily driver in the MacBook Pro 16" and I love 16:10, I run Windows on it all the time and going back to 16:9 feels incredibly cramped, even on my 27" 16:9 monitor. My theory is that High Refresh Rate 16:10 screens are not being produced. This is a shame as I would love to see a 120 Hz, 144Hz 16:10 ratio screen.

Recently they stealth released a slight refresh of the Razer Blade 15 Base with the option to get 11800H instead of the 10750H in the model you have. The relative performance difference is about 30-50% for the same wattage on the CPU. It also comes with support for faster memory (3200 Mhz instead of 2933 Mhz), as well as PCIE Gen-4 Support, and Thunderbolt 4 support. Would love to see an update video with this new model that is a "Razer Store Online Exclusive" (and its actually in stock.) Thanks!

I have the 2018 Blade 15 with 1070 and Blade 13 with 1650Ti. I have been using the Blade 13 more, so much lighter, quieter, cooler than my 15 and with the smaller screen I can change various graphical settings without noticing any significant differences. Granted I mostly play indie games and fighting games but it did surprise me how much the generational differences were. Another reason for using the Blade 13 more is that my 15 is having weird issues where the battery depletes while on the charger. This didn't happen when playing the exact same game on the 13 (Hellpoint). This could be software related but I already did a clean install, which makes me wonder if it could possibly be hardware related, I suspect the SSD may be corrupt in some way. I almost went for the Blade 14, but figured why not wait if they up the next version to 32GB ram (although I'm fine with 16GB), possibility of a 16:10 screen, possibility of thunderbolt compatibility with AMD. I'd actually be happy with it as it is now, but why not wait and see if those will be the next improvements, I don't actually need the Blade 14 with how good the 13 is for me at this moment.

HI there, Thanks for the vid. Super helpful. I am looking for a light laptop (1.0 - 2.0kg) as I am constantly moving and carrying my laptop on my bag. At the same time I would like to game some games (NFS, Call of duty and GTA basically) when I travel. I am no tech expert and therefore have a mess on my head as there are so many things to consider when choosing a professional light laptop which lets you game on the side. Could you give me some advise and try to recommend me one? I like models which look like the MacBook Pro such as Dell XPS 15, Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 and, although not that similar to Mac, Lenovo X1. These give me the pros of design, lightweight and good for business (I mainly use Outlook, Excel, Word and PPT), but when I see the price (€1.5-2.0K) I consider buying Razer Blade 14 directly and having a good gaming laptop as well as business. Sorry for the long message, hope you can help me.

Call them out on not having armoury crate aura sync be compatible with all keyboard layouts, my laptop has a Turkish key layout and if I want to set a custom lighting profile for rgb a few of the keys on the keyboard don’t show up in the software and so you can’t apply anything to them. I have the razer blade 15 2021 and the only issues I have really found are click issues with the track pad e.g. right clicking giving left click etc. Other issue yes yes the finger prints, the crappy web camera which when spending that much money I would have expected something so simple and cheap to have been upgraded. Other than that the logo I have absolutely no issue with. The over all build and ease of access inside for upgrading of the m.2 and ram is simple and straight forward. There is some dead space inside where there used to be room for anstandard SSD and this could have been utilised better on the 15 model but over all it's a solid solid build and a pleasure to use.

I just received the 3070 early 2021 model (i7 108750H) coming from an early 2019 Razer Blade 15 (i7 8750H), and while I love the seemingly better trackpad and thinner profile, I gotta say the speakers are just awful - underwhelming to say the least. I don't know exactly what the problem is here - they're just so thin on the lower end and almost piercing on the higher end. I've done driver troubleshooting and a clean install of Windows (using Razer's installation media) and still, the sound is just orders of magnitude worse than my 2019 Blade 15. They don't sound broken or damaged - they just sound substantially worse. I wonder if you (or anyone else who can speak to past Blade models) have heard the same thing....

Love my Razor would buy again.. Mine is two years plus old but the 144hz screen is still to die for even though its 1080p. Their technical support has improved but is still a problem wasted alot of my time misdiagnosing a problem. Still holding out for a 120hz oled screen and a system fast enough to run 4k at max settings (yes i may be waiting).

using the new razer blade 14 its really freaking nice gaming is awesome having a big issue with VR however. The VR software will only run on the amd monitor and not the rtx 3070. I have found a way to get around it temporarily but its a pain in the ass. The main con i have is the battery, it gets pretty hot you cannot game and use this on your lap only way you can game is on a desk or some sort of surface and it has to be plugged in. even when just browsing the web or downloading files on battery savor mode when not plugged in drains a 100% battery in only 4-5 hours. It dies really fast gaming will only last you like 2 hours.

I have a razer blade 14, and i found the speakers on that machine better than my macbook pro. Granted the Macbook pro was the 2013 model, but it even compared to the modern macbook. I never check to see what a new one sound like

I hope someone can help me decide! Im a graphic designer. I do lots of editing (photoshop, premiere pro, after effects, illustrator etc.) and i also play games a lot but not a heavy gamer (steam games that does not require to much graphics). Im planning on buying a new laptop, my considerations are as what are stated above as well as thin and has a minimalist design. Im deciding on these three laptops Razer Blade 15 Advanced (2020 OLED) Lenovo Legion 7i Hp omen 15 Which one’s the best overall? Im not so techy so i really cant decide which. These 3 has the best design for me. Heeeeelp!

blade 14 is the closest to perfection according to me the body is good (except maybe the fingerprint addictive panel) 4k 120hz touch on the 14-inch laptop and more ram options

I am genuinely confused as to why you would want a 4k panel on a 14 inch device. Touch? Sure. But 4k? 1440p is already more than enough...

    Razer Blade 14 doesn't come in 4k. It's FHD 144hz, or QHD 165hz

nooo on the 4k. It would drain battery faster, it would have huge diminishing returns on that size and it would affect gaming performance significantly. 1440p is the PERFECT panel and it's 165hz! Even better.

Aditya Rudrabhatla, I wish razer had a 17 inch 4k version with a 10900k with 3080 16gb version. I have the Dell g7 15.6 4k oled version but it has a decent i7 cpu only has a 2070 max q and the gpu is decent but not powerful enough. I watch 4k movies on my laptop with an external optical drive for 4k playback and for gaming at 4k rtx.

As a owner of a lot of their products I would have to agree with most everything you said. While I do think Razer has more folks who have battery issues I still enjoy their products. I think they still have a way to go in their customer service / technical support department.

Agree with everything here Matt. The fingerprints on my 14 are so disgusting. I believe they had to solder the RAM just because there was no room for RAM slots with the big vapor chamber there. One other thing I wish the 14 had after using it a few weeks now is Advanced Optimus.

They are very good, good number of ports, very beautiful and robust, beautiful screen, above average battery, and great sounds. However, they are indeed expensive, first of all. Second, the thermals. I know that a gaming laptop isn't the most quiet nor coldest in the world, but man, it screams.

The only things I would like too see in future would be , slightly increase the thickness of each laptop. Not by a huge amount, 2-5mm would be sufficient just to increase a small bit of air volume, especially on the 14, so the Vapor chamber can have a bit more volume. The screen 16-10 screen would also be great for general productivity and Free-sink/ G-sink on all monitors from now on. Next on speakers, especially if you increased the thickness slightly, add a small subwoofer underneath. AMD chips would be great in almost all of your laptops, or at least an option. Also if you added a tiny bit more thickness to the 14 so we can go with a 32g ram, the next small, yet large thing would be allow us to disable Optimus. To recap. 1-5mm thicker Blade 14, which should increase cooling. The extra room could allow for a 32g ram and a small subwoofer underneath, Free-sink 16-10 QHD monitors/ Oled across the board. Lastly, moving the charger to the rear of the unit.

I really wish the FN and CTRL keys on the left side were switched in position. Or that in the BIOS you could switch these, since FN keys cannot be remapped in Windows. Lenovo lets you switch the FN and CTRL key in the BIOS. Considering how often I use CTRL for Copy Paste, to gaming, my pinky/ring finger just doesn't like reaching to the CTRL key, it's unnatural for my hands.

As far as the logo goes I think they should do something like they did with the razer phones where the emblem is silver over black but if you want it to light up you can turn it on or off with RGB. That would be perfect for a classy look or popping RGB with the same device. Idk why they haven't done this yet. The razer phones are a few years old at this point so it's not something they can't do especially for a 1800-2800 dollar price range.

it would have been good if a holistic view is covered including post sale support. Razer is notoriously infamous for customer support - that must play a part in buying a £2k laptop.

This video was nothing but FACTS!!!🔥💯 Also I think lower price on these would be better. The performance isn't good enough to charge @ almost the same price as higher, performing laptops such as the Scar 15 3080 vs. their 3080 for example.

I don’t know how anyone could recommend a gaming laptop with all Soldered ram. I’ll admit I’m jaded because I only know three people that bought razor laptops. All three had major quality control issues all three of them have the bloated batteries but two of them died because the Soldered ram on them went bad. Are any of the razor laptops available without soldered ram or only half soldered ram like the asus zephyrus laptops?

razer blade 15 and 17 all have 2 upgradeable ram slots and have had them since their inception, if i am not mistaken. not sure about the 13 inch models because i was never interested in them. if you see pictures of the internals on the razer blade 14, you can see why they resorted to soldered memory... no space to have upgradeable ram slots with the inclusion of vapour chamber heatsink. the layout is pretty dense. my mid 2019 oled blade 15 had 2 easily accessible ram slots albeit i never did upgrade them.

As owner of Blade 13,14 and 15, I echo most of your comments. I skinned all of them to get rid of fingerprint and hideous logo issue. My main hope for improvement is the power brick size and weight. The is no point of being thin and light when the power brick can kill someone when hurled.

Ive been using this Razer blade design for years and just to let you know if your hands dont excrete a lot of sweat , like u find it difficult to open a plastic bag you need to add some water before you can open a plastic bag. Then you wont leave fingerprints at all on this machine. I almost feel like it was designed for me.
