I would like to see a “pattern hacking” video, like how to adjust a pattern if you have a large bust but small waist or how to mix and match patterns or a dress that’s as far from the original pattern as possible while still having the essence…using your patterns of course!

Yes i would love this. She had a small bust and makes these dresses based on that. But i have a big bust so it doesn’t work

Now I've never made a standard pattern myself but I did some research. And it's a whole art in itself called grafting. Where you make math calculations that are very specific to ensure size consistency. So I think this pattern should fit bigger busted people unless you have a big chest but have a smaller build/weight. Since most weights are kind of proportional aka you usually have a bigger chest if you're heavier and if you're skinny you usually have a small chest like me I'd say the pattern should work. If not I'd tell you to try taking measurements of your body like bust, waist, hips, and the distance between those. And then add the length of each piece together without the seam allowence and see the difference. Basically measure the waist across the front and back and see the difference. Once you know the exact measurement you can evenly spread that across. Like 1 piece for the front and two for the back? Divide the difference by two and for the front divide that further by two. But for the back divide it by four since that's the amount of seam allowences required. And add those measurements to the edges and connect the points. For this pattern in particular I haven't seen all the pieces. But if they're anywhere similar to mine (I made a similar bodice but with straps that tie into a bow instead of sleeves) you should be able to find the diagonal line going from the nipple point all the way to the middle of the beginning of the sleeve strap. Connect that point and then cut the pattern and spread it a couple of cms making sure to extend the bottom curve to ensure enough space for the rouching part so it has room to puff. It's kind of the same thing you do for puff sleeves basically. Hope this helps coming from a fellow fashion designer. I'm a design student at the university of Genova, Italy with a passion in sewing so technically I earned that title.

I usually mark off which sizes work for my measurements (as I also have a small waist and large bust despite a generally small build) and then use a ruler to trace between them to create a custom size for myself!

Soooo beautiful!!! Will be getting the pattern asap!💜
I have been searching for ages for this dress pattern. It almost perfectly matches a dress my mom made that I want to recreate. Just when I had given up, this shows up in my feed. Very excited to get started on this!
Omg just bought it❣️ can't wait to make this with lilac fabric😍 ahhhh I'm so excited!!!!
I love this dress so much, it looks gorgeous!! You put so much hard work into making your videos and patterns, I always want to make everything you post! I recently just made the cowl midi dress with the large bow for my semi so I will definitely have to make this for next year😊🥰
I love love loveee this and your makeup is beautiful! 🥰💖
Just purchased the pattern! Thanks for the discount code I can’t wait to make it as a wedding guest dress.
Thank you! We used you pattern to create a prom dress for my Daughter. ❤ the Video was very informative. Thank you for your time and sharing your Talent. 🎉
My god, I think I have pictures of my mom wearing a similar dress in the 70's! 👀 Ganda! 🙌
wow your hair and makeup look incredible in the intro
Wow! Supergood explanained!! And the dress is so pretty!🤩
i’m so excited for this
SO gorgeous you do amazing work! I reckon the top of the pink dress with the lovely sleeves and boning would make an awesome top too with a cropped round hem 😍
I love the pink one!
it’s so gorgeous and it’s so amazing thank u for this all the time this took (i mean we only saw like 2% of the process too) and wow very greatful it’s amazing i’m too new for this i think lol but when i get more experienced i’m so gonna try
I’m going to an engagement party in July in Texas and the wedding will be next August also in Texas. I’ve never been to Texas but I know a lightweight flouncy fabric to keep me cool is key when choosing a dress. I’m so making this!
Started following you on IG a few weeks ago and subscribed to your channel today! I can’t wait to make the long dress for a wedding I’m going to. As a modification, I plan to switch out the sleeves for filipiniana terno sleeves (I may need to color match as I’ll need a stiffer material than chiffon). Love your content and will purchase your pattern now! 😍😍😍
Beautiful!❤
omg gorgeous!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!💗
stunninggg
Kiana, I love this. I was looking for a pattern to make me a dress to go to my best friends' birthday party... and you have made the absolute perfect one! Couldn't fit my style better! I will most definitely buy it, and I appreciate your effort so much (I might even make a prototype in honor of your dedication, lol). Keep up the awsome work!
hi! i bought the pattern THE SECOND i saw the dress. I just need the right fabric, i would love to have it in pastel lavender color. You did AMAZING job.
Soo cute I can't!!😭😭😭

I'm new to sewing clothes. I'm wanting to make doll dresses mainly, which I am aware is going to be very different but I was hoping I could learn different techniques to make them. I'm making collectible dolls, not play dolls, but I want durable clothes for them. And if I could learn to make clothes for people I'd love to make my own clothes, and clothes for my kid.
Wow I never thought about basting in the zipper. I can’t wait to be done with the semester so I can catch up on some much overdue sewing 🥹
It's soooo prettty❤
slayed!
gonna try to make the advanced one…pray for me sewing besties

I love you 💞 Kiana
Love this dress some much! I was just wondering if there is a specific type of fabric that would be best to use or can I just use any I wish?
Prettyyyyyyy
I love this so much! I can’t wait to try it out!! I was wondering if we could take out the gathers in the bust piece so it’s just flat? Thank you so much, your tutorials are so so helpful!

Love the dress. What type of fabric is the blue dress?
Beautiful. Thanks for this video. I love this format of your content. It would be amazing if you could consider making an oversized jacket with matching a mini skirt. Like a fun sexy modern power suit Kiana style.
Hi I noticed the instructions said to make sure the second flounce on the mini dress was the tall one but I’m a fairly short person (about 5’1”) so would you recommend cutting that one to regular height?
I love the look of the blue dress. What type of material is it called?
The pink is can be also use for wedding events
Purchased your pattern and have a question. If I have a bigger bust and smaller waist, can I combine two sizes in one?
Nice
With style b. When you stay stitch the bust pieces should you stay stitch the back prior to sewing the darts so that al of the darts are hidden?
Where is this fabric from? It's beautiful
Do you have any tips for cutting it again after you’ve let it hang? Do you cut it from the hanging position? I feel like I just messed mine up even more after trying to cut it even
Hey Kiana, Is this pattern drafted for a B cup size?
I love this pattern so much! If I wanted to make the blue dress but with the boning from the pink dress, is it just a matter of copying that part of the pattern?
@KianaBonollo
Жыл бұрын
Yes it is! I did the most simplified version of the dress and the most complicated, so you guys could combine techniques to make something custom!
Hi! I’m studying physiotherapy and I have a suggestion for you. When using the rolling cutter, handle it as if you’re going to stab someone. It’s better for your wrist health. Ps: don’t stab anyone pls. Love from France ❤️
OMG I LOVEEEEE THIS but but but will there be style C, the short dress the sketch of which was posted on your Instagram?
@jgeorge4919
Жыл бұрын
I think you would just cut it shorter and only make 2 flounces like she said…and I assume just make the lining piece twice to not have it gathered like the short dress illustration? I think.
@KianaBonollo
Жыл бұрын
Hello! The pattern includes options for mini, midi and maxi! It shows you where to cut if you want each style!
Would it be easy for example to adjust for a larger bust. If I’m a 4/6 on your chart in underbust, waist and hip but my bust is a size 10 on your chart?
What kind of fabric is best to use?
What fabric should we use for best results and how many yards?
Whoa I promised myself not to buy another patterns, but this dress is UNREAL!!! I have one question - is it really necessary to serge every seam in the bodice when it's hidden between the shell and the lining later?
@KianaBonollo
Жыл бұрын
Hi! It's not completely necessary actually! However, if you have a fabric that frays easily, I would still recommend finishing them somehow so your dress lasts longer through the wash.
@ElewinaX
Жыл бұрын
@@KianaBonollo Okay, thank you!!
Do you need to have a serger to make either of these dresses?
Which material you use for pink dress
I loved these but no pattern size matches mine 😢
What fabric is used for the pink dress? Does anyone know ?🤍🤍
How many yards of fabric is needed for the dress??
Love the dress! Is there a reason you ended up not including the version with a dart instead of the gathers?
@KianaBonollo
Жыл бұрын
You can just swap out the gathered piece for the plain piece! Nothing changes!
Is your sewing machine for heavy duty
😍😍😍😍😍😍
I’m making this for your pattern for my daughter. Question: the zipper is inserted on the curve back seam and not on the flat seam. General the curved seam attaches to the front skirt curved seam and the straight seams are sewed up to point of zipper insertion. Your is the opposite. Is yours a printing error? Thank you.
What paper should i print out on?
@kaitlinwebster2114

any paper should work but cardstock is good if you want to use the pattern many times without having to cut it out again

Anyone got ideas on how to build in a bra? Resource recommendations?
Has anyone tried this with zig zagging edges instead of serging them
Should change this site's name to: "Supermodel that sews"
So sad I was just too late for the discount code 😭
i don't even know how to sew but i watched the entire video twice because of how bad i want to wear the pink flounce dress to prom
How pretty??
Girl, did u look up the meaning of flounce? It’s def not wat u think..
I can’t wait to hopefully get myself together to make one of these for a wedding look for myself 🥹 thank you, been waiting for the pattern to drop
Hi Kiana! This is amazing - you are amazing. Is there any reasonable way this could be done without a serger? I want to make this so badly for my daughter's prom (she wants it badly). I have confidence in my skills, but don't have a serger and not worth the cost for a one-off. Thank you if you have time to respond. :)
Thank you for all the time you put into this Kiana 🥹 I'm a beginner so this video is super helpful🙏🏽
