Honestly, as much as I love the random shit, that arc with Cell learning to be a father is some really good writing. "I fucked up. I'm not SUPPOSED to fuck up." That's not just about him losing the love of his child, it's a complete crisis of self-identity. He's supposed to be, was CREATED to be, the perfect being...but he has to come to terms with the fact that he's not.

I love how it has genuinely developed into a proper series with genuine story arcs
