Thanks Mike. Having been on several tours myself I know what you mean about others taking video/photos of the trip! Many of the commentators on this page also did videos worth seeing. Hope you enjoyed the trip through our beautiful countryside.

@@JulianThurgood Thanks again Julian, I have found a couple of other videos not as good as yours though but still much appreciated record of my journey. I guess you guys were on the hill to the North of the viaduct, I took some photos of that, you may be on them. I have a Facebook page under Mike Holmes if you are interested.

Beautifully shot Julian, sometimes there aren't words for such a spectacle. I am surprised there weren't Harry Potter fans blocking the roads though. One observation about the the glorious condition of the engine and coaches - they look like a Hornby train set taken out of it's box on Christmas morning.

Thanks for the comment Nick - glad you approve. This is not the Harry Potter loco - that is Olton Hall (though it looks similar). I have a Triang/Hornby Princess Elizabeth - my first model train - some 60 years old now and looking rather tatty.

Excellent Julian, a cracking shot over the viaduct and sounding superb with it, wise choice to do Appleby with the problems with signalling and the diesel doing a lot of pushing after that, cheers nige.

....and...don’t tell me....you were already set up with your tripod when those thoughtless cretins stuffed your shots...... apart from which , this is lovely footage and a great thrill to see from across the world (Australia).....am constantly amazed that (most) restored steam locos in the UK have such woefully pissy whistles....😎

It seems my choice of Appleby for the return shot was good (based on logistics of train travel) as there was a signal failure between Appleby and Kirkby Stephen, along with worsening weather - horizontal driving rain at Ais Gill.
