Im saying this respectfully bro, I think you need to expand what you watch. The characters you described are basically all shounen protagonists. I would say the overwhelming majority of action anime geared toward adults have intelligent badass and highly capable protagonists. Basically anything under the seinen genre would be something you’d enjoy. Berserk, ghost in the shell, cowboy bebop, Vinland saga, Hellsing ultimate. Etc

I'm so glad this series is anime original series so we can't get spoiled about anything unless you watch it few days later.

Btw Peking Duck is the food shown in the poster literally right before Higan said “Peking duck” LMAO that was like a lil comedic moment. You probably figured that out by now but I’m just typing this as that moment just passed!

THis anime is going to be a wild and crazy ride and im all here for it.

This reminds me of Ninja Assassins, the brutality and all that.

As far as the scene where he was referencing to the duck, I think that was comical relief. I didn't understand that too. At first when I watched it again in that scene I noticed that the restaurant poster had like a advertisement for a duck dish and I think that's what he was referencing 😂🤣
