LOVE your video (especially the parts featuring your kids). I played trombone professionally for 40 years. Then I had two surgeries on my left shoulder. Also had to get my left bicep muscle reattached. This made it very painful to play in the trombone section of my community big band. Well, not anymore! The pBone has allowed me to get back in the "swing" of playing. My section mates can't really tell any difference in the sound between my pBone and my cherished 1940 King Liberty (handed down to me by my father who played professionally for decades). Your video helped me to pull the trigger (oh, wait! There's no trigger on this horn) and make the purchase. Thanks again for your video.

pBoneUK Video sounds like it was designed as commercial, but as pBone player I have to agree. I could NEVER use a brass trombone in my jazz project, since I work with 3 instruments (also trumpet & clarinet) - it would be too much weight. I cycle to my performance locations and bring not just 3 horns, but also a mini-PA with too small Bose speakers. We live in an interesting time. :)

I have a Pbone, and she is right, it is an excellent practice horn. Plus, I started noticing something the other day. I was playing my silver King and after I finished, in my old age, my left hand was really in pain, and was trying to lock up on me. I can hold the Pbone all day and it doesn't hurt a bit. Of course not everyone is going to have that problem but for those of us who do, Pbone is a great way to still play and not kill your hands! Although I would switch to my King when it counts.

Use plain vaseline to lubricate the p-Bone slide - it doesn't react with the various plastics like other lubricants. You still need to do slide-care every time after playing, just like Bill W. recommends, emptying out water, then cleaning off any residues and replacing the lubricant before putting the instrument away.

Do you ever play with a clip on microphone?. I'm thinking the fact it doesn't resonate as much will give less feedback. Maybe even use effects processor pedals like a guitar player. Thoughts? I know being miked like a vocalist brass is better, but being a defacto electronic instrument because the keys and everything else is impossibly louder, do you think the pbone would be like a solid body guitar vs a hollow? Every demo I've seen hasn't even shown the microphone.

The p-Bone: lighter to hold, so my arm aches less, but the standard grip position is bigger and makes my hand ache more, so I have to use an alternative hand position. Harder work to blow, so it strengthens the chops more if you use it for practicing. Has a less penetrating sound, more like a woodwind instrument - an alto sa*o*ho*e maybe. I want to try and use that gentler, more intimate sound, but know that people who ask me to play the trombone at all really want the immediacy, hard edge and attack the (metal) instrument of that name is known for, and undoubtedly offers, so sadly, the p-Bone stays in the cupboard.

I really want to own one but I'm having a problem. I've seen a brass one cost only 100$ and the pbone cost 160$. I want to get pbone but too expensive for my budget and the brass one I might break it in no time because metal and I'm kinda careless person.
