Another great one by the Payolas...am I the only one or does the singer bear a resemblance to Tackleberry from the Police Academy movies?

Payola guitarist Bob Rock (the one in the glasses) went on to be a major rock producer. His credits include Metallica's Black album, he's also produced for Loverboy, Aerosmith, The Cult, Bon Jovi, Motley Crue and even Michael Buble. Quite a career for the payola guitarist.

@tomdulle1707

I never understood why Metallica worked with him again. I had heard the "Black" sessions were very contentious. so as the old saying goes...fool me once shame on you. fool me twice shame on me. They knew what they were getting into working with Bob again, so they are at least 50% to blame, and Metallica has done a wonderful job over time of alienating themselves in the industry. They should have had their pick of producers. I'm guessing that St Anger is a situation where they pissed off better options. A good producer is a good producer, but that doesn't mean that they are a good fit with everyone.

Awesome Song. Saw these guys open for Men at Work at the Saddledome in Calgary. My very first rock concert. Hyde was super expressive and totally filled the stage with his facial and physical dramatics. 80's music was really experimental, from punk, rap, new wave and metal ~ all using theatrical influences. More creative storytelling with what they had back then and much less banal booty shots and cheap T&A, vocal correction gizmos and such that are used now in mainstream music.

Haha.. yeah! If it hadn't been for the dramatic story lines in most of Kate Bush's music, I may have never become a dancer. So much drama to act out, some would call it cheesy now, but at least it was expressive and artistic. Watch "Small Town Boy" by Bronski Beat. Or A-Ha - Take on Me... cutting edge animation into film videos of it's time - Depeche Mode, David Bowie, Bauhaus, Flock of Seagulls, Rational Youth, U2 - back then, - so much more theatrical... Even the heavy metal was full on 'performance art'. Rob Halford and Judas Priest, Ozzy Osbourne, Quiet Riot - so much make-up, and the costumes!? Just awesome. It was like Halloween all the time, watching Video Hits and New Music Magazine. :)

Can I touch you to see if you're real? 'Cause in nothing there's something I feel Will my heart take the strain Or will it break down again? In your lips I sense a danger You've got the eyes of a stranger Have I been sleeping for all these years? Is it magic that makes you appear? When you walked in the room I felt my heart race But knew I'd been fooled when I looked at your face In your lips I sense a danger You've got the eyes of a stranger In your lips I see a danger You've got the eyes of a stranger In your lips I sense a danger You've got the eyes of a stranger In your lips I see a danger You've got the eyes of a stranger You've got the eyes of a stranger You've got the eyes of a stranger You've got the eyes of a stranger You've got the eyes of a stranger

With KZread, it is and you don't have to be limited by the cash in your wallet like you did back in the 1980s or be at the whim of whether the band or label had paid enough to get their record aired by any specific radio station or network of stations, which is what the band's name refers to.

If you want some amazing music while driving, the whole album is incredible.
Just learnt the bass for this song and I can’t stop playing it! I’ve just been playing it over and over again😄
I remember driving down West Broadway in Vancouver to my internship at Bullfrog Recording Studios. As I'm driving past the Hollywood they're putting 'Payolas' up on the Marquee, and I remember thinking, "That's weird, the boys are playing in the movie theatre?" Very early days of story-based rock videos in '82.
Love this tune! thanks for posting....

This line-up recorded the Mick Ronson-produced album No Stranger To Danger. Incorporating elements of reggae, pop, punk, and new wave, the LP included a bona fide hit (No. 4) in “Eyes of a Stranger”, which later earned the Juno for best single of the year." I Love being right...as i was actually alive and listening to music when the song came out, kids....

Remember hearing them as the opening act on a Loverboy show, if I recall. This guy had the loudest voice ! This song had a magical effect on the teen that I was then. Their song called "Where is this love" was pretty good too.
