The Patterned Plywood Video that NEVER WAS...
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
🎉This is my 100th video on KZread 🎉 When I was thinking about what I regret NOT doing in 6 years on this platform, one thing came to mind. Years ago I made Patterned Plywood serving boards for my family. I didn't film it because it was the holidays, and I was in a hurry. I did, however post it on Instagram and people freaked out over them! My biggest post EVER! I realized I made a major mistake not making a video. For video 100 I'm rectifying my mistake and not only remaking this design. I also made a limited run of them for sale on my website.

15:56 cutting dowels: In Europe we use miter shears for that.
While your work is known most for your patterned plywood to those who just got to know your channel, I would just like to say that everything about your work: your woodworking process and skills, your creativity, your explanatory capabilities, and your production value are incredible and truly unique. I've learned plenty of techniques from you, gotten to see new ways to think about materials in general, and I am sure your future work will continue to evoke those qualities, the ones that make us think outside the plywood box! Thank you for being you, doing what you love, and sharing it with us!

👍💯 agreed
"drilled into the walnut sky" is a fun phrase out of context
As an experienced woodworker do you think it is possible/worth it to change an electric teapot's handle to full wooden one? It will both make it more fitting with the kitchen design and allow me to get rid of a toxic stinky plastic handle and actually use my teapot for once.
The cutting boards look great. Congratulations on your 100 episode.

Thank you!
I have successfully corrected some bowed glued up panels by “rehydrating” and then pressing the panel. I found this technique in a Fine Woodworking article. You place the panel concave side down on top of a damp towel, and then position a heat lamp or heat source about 2 feet away facing the surface. It works with PVA glues. I had to use this method when I glued up 1/2” white oak panels for sliding door inserts and it worked well. I kept them in a press overnight after flattening and they stayed flat afterwards. Saved my butt as the 2 panels were grain matched and I would have needed to reproduce the whole front of the cabinet.
Those are great looking. The logo being inset is awesome.
❤😮❤😮❤😮❤ FANTASTIC ~ AND THANKS FOR LETTING ME KNOW ABOUT THE TOTAL BOAT WOOD HONEY FOOD SAFE WOOD FINISH ~ I’VE BEEN LOOKING EVERYWHERE FOR A WOOD FOOD PROTECTOR THAT WAS ANY GOOD ~ AND THIS ONE WORKS FANTASTICALLY!!👍🏾
Wow, I serendipitously saw this just as you launched the store
I recommend a chain mail glove for work so small, it will help you keep your flood! You can buy anti cut gloves and coat two finger tips with silicone caulk for better grip!
These boards are awesome!! They just need to be about 4 times larger to make a nice large cutting board! There is no way I could use a cutting board this small ;) Also as for the merch they look awesome and I wish more brands cared about how their merch looked. Everyone just seems to throw it on the cheapest t-shirt or hand and then be like "I have merch" its like no you don't you have junk with your logo on it. If you make a nice logo and put it on really nice clothing then people will want to actually wear it!! This merch looks like you put time and effort into the quality and those hats look awesome and I am a hug hoodie guy and I love that hoodie. Good on you for not just selling to make a buck but caring about your brand! Just one persons opinion, that logo is way too huge on the back of the sweater for most people the simple logo on the front would be perfect. Make that hat in a full back also!!
Really nice. I like the subtlety of putting your logo on the back.
Eye candy! Always!
You should definitely make a shirt with the same design & color scheme as the hat!
They look amazing! Imagine putting rgbw on it, oooh patterned plywood rpgw table!
Excellent work Michael!
I love the starry sky!
My wife loves her present, thanks Michael!
Amazing work. Love the store and I got a serving board. A cool variant would be to have the mountain top/night sky with a visual separator that would give the appearance of multiple separate mountains or angled pieces cut from a white hardwood to look like snow covered peaks.

Thank you!! That's a great idea. I might have to give it a go!
Lemmings going over the edge :)
congratulations on your 100th video!
Why the f doesn't youtube recommend you or put you on my subscription list.... always love your videos! Btw, congrats on 100 videos! One of my favorite shop infrastructure videos on all of KZread is the one you did with your drill press cabinet/bench.
It was going so well before the cheap rubber feet! And your logo is on the back!! You gained a subscriber!
“The Walnut Sky” would be a great band name
I absolutely like the idea to support local businesses. Unfortunately, that makes ordering from outside the US quite an expensive issue...
Super Super Cool !
I would love this in landscape
Congratulations!
super super super cool 👌
Congrats on 100 videos! This channel has quickly become a favorite over the past two years. I actually just started my first patterned plywood project so I’ll say it’s in honor of the 100th video
Congrats on 100 videos! Those beauty shots of the awesome serving boards at the end with the light sneaking in, pure 🔥. Accent lights FTW!

Bravissimo ✌🏼👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Congratulations on video 100! Love your stuff and watching over the years. Beautiful boards. Looking forward to the next 100!
Congrats on both the 100th video AND the new store! Love your video style (clear concise edits, clear simple explanations of what and why you are doing something, visuals that really show what's going on and visuals that make it go beyond a "how I did it" video [the pieces all in a row slowly marching forward and jumping into the box {reminded me of Monty Python videos with the animation showing people doing something similar}]). Please keep going and sharing with us!
OMG, that Starry Alpine board is Amazing!
Brilliant work! Congratulations on your 100th video and for being an innovator of your craft - we cannot wait to see what the next 100 will be like!
Such a great project. I really like your design. Happy 100th video...looking forward to the next 100!
You simply could not have picked a better 100th video topic! What an excellent video of your exceptional talent! You truly have a gift! Thank you so much for sharing it with us!
Congrats on 100 videos!! And those serving boards are just gorgeous.
Hakone Japan is famous for wood inlaid boxes and other wood items that look like this. I am super excited to make something just like this! Thanks for the video
Beautiful!
Congrats Michael. You're one the greats. I've enjoyed learning from you.
Congrats on the 100th video! Really enjoy your channel and your vibe! Keep up the awesome work! Time to put on my AlmFab shirt to rep today!

I like that idea!
Hello Mr Alm Finally a creative carpenter who goes beyond the 90 degree angle. You have very nice and exciting ideas, I like your projects very much. I myself am also a cabinetmaker and have dedicated myself to the Art Deco style and that is a challenge and I also draw my projects myself. So always stay creative and "Gut Holz" is what they say in Germany. Many carpenter greetings from Norway Udo.H.Lieber
I used your patterned plywood method to make my mom a recipe box. She LOVED it. Thanks
Really nice boards, I am going to try my hand at making some :) Cheers Rob
Congrats on 100! Love your material and explanations. All your work is inspiring to us amateurs who have discovered the joy that is woodworking and finding their footing in this craft.
Happy 100! I think I’ve watched them all. Congratulations on the online store too.
AH, Congrats on 100 videos! 🙌🙌These boards are STUNNING!!
Great job. Interesting project
Mazel tov on getting to 100!
Love the illusion! For how you chose portrait frame, I think people will likely orient and serve with a landscape orientation though. That it’s a natural tendency to make a horizontal spread of appetizers (this allows you to visually fill your table lengthwise or your island/buffet). Its right to probably on have a bit of sky, 1/3 sky and 2/3 mountain but have a landscape over the length of board.
You just gave me the opportunity to give my daughter & son-in-law a special Christmas gift. My daughter fell in love with your patterned bowl and I showed her more of your patterned videos. Now she and her husband will have a very special gift. Your work is jaw dropping.
I'm super excited to finally be able to snag one of the pieces you've made. There was no section for adding a note on my order But Congrats on 100 videos. You're a massive inspiration to the community and one of the biggest reasons I got into woodworking. I show your videos to my students in my Product development/ Wood shop class and they love them. Keep up the fantastic work.
Beautiful ! And congratulations of course 🎉
Congrats! Youve inspired more than you know. Keep up the good work
Felicitaciones en tu video 100 !
Congratulations on your 100th video! Also, the store front and merch looks awesome 👏
I pity thoe who only know you for your patterned plywood; your are an artist whose medium of expression is wood work, the upgrade in film production is not unnoticed. You are very very talented, i wish i was in the States, i'd have bought your serving boards, merch and many more of your work
Really beautiful!! Congrats on your adventure of 100 videos!
Congratulations on 100 videos! Love your creativity and attention to detail.
The Alpine sky pattern is INSANE! Amazing work 😮
Thank you for always creating such beautiful work and helping me get a head start on my Christmas present shopping! So happy I get to support your talent!!
Love your channel, love your pattern plywood. Excellent 100th video!!!
I recently saw your post about this cutting board on Instagram and my first thought was "Why is there no video on KZread about it?" So glad you did one! Another perfect project for your 100th video. Congratulations!
Yay Michael! Congratulations on your success!
I'm glad it's your job! We all are!👍
Congratulations on the 100th episode! I really like the boards!
Those boards look so nice, the stars are such a good touch too! Congrats on your 100th video :)
I love how illustrative you are getting with your patterned ply, would love to see you experiment with making an actual panel/furniture piece with a full blown artwork made in patterned plywood!
One of my fave channels!

Thank you!!
Can you please clarify two things? 1. Why does the wedge method prevent cupping? I assumed to prevent cupping you’d put a heavy flat object on top to Hold it flat while it dries? 2. For the one that cupped could you have done on a planar rather than belt sander? First wedge, then run through, then flip, repeat.
Congrats on your 100th! And your new merch ;)
Congratulations Michael! youre a huge inspiration ;) heres to another 100!
They look amazing turned out beautiful congratulations on your 💯 video 🎉🎉
Congratulations Michael! Long time fan of your work!

Congrats man, awesome!
Congrats Mate!!
Fantastic work, I really do like your patterned plywood, it's very cleverly done. Superglue, blue roll, and painters tape should be in every woodworker's first aid kit.🙂
congratulation on your 100th episode, liked the design of the cutting boards looks great.
Hi I really liked your logo on the boards, on the mountain one it makes sense for it to be on the bottom. I preferred the second to have the logo on the front..🙂
You are SUPERSTAR
Hey Michael, congratulations on you 100th video. Your work is always an inspiration for me, so please keep it up. Greetings from Germany
Those are gorgeous
I have worktherapy in a workshop and as soon I started playing with patterned plywood the bandsaw broke and patients arent allowed to use the tablesaw cos of insurance. I want to do this pattern so much rn
I really like the mountain pattern. The stars are a cool touch and the logo on the back is just awesome!
I've only just very recently come by your channel, and I say this with great amazement, I'm not sure whether you're a master of woodworking or videography (or maybe both)! Absolutely brilliant pieces and video, can't wait to binge the other 99!
These would be beautiful book ends
Those serving boards are just gorgeus. Really nice work. Congratulations for you channel. I just suscribed,
That's dope!
Congrats on 100, my friend! Love the boards and yet another very well done video. Also, gotta say - love the swinging light effect on the finished product at the end - very cool!
