I went down the far right conspiracy rabbit hole a long time ago. The Oklahoma City bombing was my wakeup call. It made me pause and rethink everything! Noticing all the bigotry and racism helped me as well. I am no longer even a conservative. Actually I never “really” was a conservative at all. I was lied to and mislead into thinking I was though. When McVey acted, I had already “felt” like I “needed” to act. Fortunately I overcame my far right indoctrination before I acted on the thoughts that the propaganda put in my head. I realized that I was on the wrong team, and deprogrammed myself before I “acted out” like these fools did. These “wannabe terrorists” are VERY lucky that the police stopped them BEFORE they got a chance to commit any felonies.

I think that a lot of young men (in the demographic being recruted) would see the events in charlotsville and want to join in, because young men like that sort of thing. Combat, violence, being part of a larger cause, and action, action, action, apeals to testerone addle, bored, alienated young men who don't know a better way to channel that energy and agression (such as sports, slamming in mosh pits, atending non-violent but still high adrenalin protests, joining the miltary and etc.)
