I absolutely love this jacket - I moved from California to northern Europe a few years ago and I’m still learning how to dress for the winter. I finally caved and bought myself this jacket and I’m so pleased with it - it keeps me super warm and it just feels so cozy to wear. Thankful to have this as my everyday jacket this winter!

I love my Downdrift jacket - the perfect casual winter jacket! I'd love to see a review comparing the Patagonia Stormshadow vs Arcteryx Beta Down Insulated! similar price point and usage i would imagine.

- This jacket is exactly what I was looking for. Thick and warm enough for woods walks in cold New England weather . The arm pit holes are roomy enough for a thicker sweat shirt underneath. The waist is fitted enough to keep drafts out without being restrictive and it’s adjustable . Love that the hood is removable too. Just s Chris says it’s a great general purchase jacket for day to day winter life.

Thanks for your video. I am very torn between the Men's Downdrift Jacket and the Jackson Glacier Jacket. Which is warmer? How do you feel about breathability? Rain resistance? Lint collection? All comparatively, of course. :) Which of the two do you prefer? Thanks for any insight you might be able to offer. I would like to use it in the Copenhagen winter climate (down to 20 F, usually a little warmer than that.) If you're ever in Copenhagen, I'm buying you a coffee! Thanks again

They are similar, but I would say that the Downdrift is a bit tougher, as far as the face fabric, which may make it a bit more wind resistant. The warmth is very similar. The jackson may be a bit more breathable, as the face fabric is a bit lighter. Both are, at least to me, more of an urban jacket for more casual use, not made specifically for high output activities. Rain resistance is similar as they both have a DWR coating. The one big difference as far as weather, that concerns me about the Downdrift, is the fact that the jacket has two pockets that are open to the weather, not covered. While this is convenient for everyday use, it may not be great in pouring rain or heavy snow. As far as lint, I really can't say. I did not have the jackets long enough to observe that. Overall, they are both really nice. I did like both of them. I feel that the jackson is a bit more technical, and the cut is nice. The Downdrift to me was a really nice warm jacket for everyday use around town or anywhere. It also has a removeable hood, that the jackson does not.

@@meandmyjackets Thank you so much for the in-depth response! Really do appreciate it. I sometimes have trouble with collars that are too tight or hit my chin when moving, which I find very annoying. Considering that, would you steer clear of the Downdrift? Or do you feel like it doesn't hit your chin annoyingly when moving? How’s the Glacier in this regard? If you HAD to choose one, which would you go with? The Downdrift outside fabric seems more durable, like you said. But do you feel like the Glacier outside fabric is worryingly delicate, i.e. like many nylon puffer/down jackets? I’ll be wearing a backpack pretty often with it. Would you worry about the friction with the material of the glacier? I would hate to find a bunch of holes in my jacket down the line. Would you fear a bunch of holes in time? My final question is this: If I'm looking for a durable winter jacket with a nice warranty, that is comfortable, with a not-too-constricting collar/hood, are there any others you would recommend? Are there others I should be looking at? Thanks again. Your channel is truly the best for down-to-Earth content on outdoor gear!

Both jackets have a collar that comes up under the chin. I did like the fit of the downdrift, as it has a full collar around the entire neck, with the removeable hood attached to the back. However, it did fit a bit tighter than the jackson glacier. The durability of the jackson is not a problem, as the fabric although not as tough as the downdrift was still durable. Not like a super lightweight down jacket like the down sweater. I own the Arc'teryx Thorium, and That's my goto jacket. Since I bought that a few years ago, I don't have a need to keep the two patagonia jackets. It's just as warm, it's lighter, it does have a durable face fabric, and the hood fits me great. The collar on the thorium does come up over the chin, so it's not sticking you whenever you look downward. I do have videos on the thorium here as well. @@SigurdKempf

They are very similar, but I would say that the Downdrift may be a bit warmer. The face fabric is a little tougher. I wore the Downdrift the other night in low 20 degree wind chills. It was great. I I did not not feel a chill at all.

Hey Chris, how does this one compare to the Uniqlo seamless down parka? Love patagonia but wanted to make sure this is a clear upgrade

How does the warmth compare to your Cerium SV?

I would say that my Cerium SV is warmer. It's the older version. From what I have heard, the newer version of the SV that came out about a year ago, Fall of 22, was not as warm as the older version that I have. Even though the newer version had 1000 fill and mine is 850. My SV is super warm and puffy. Also, much lighter in weight. I also like how the puffy hood fits. The downdrift is warm, but not as cozy. It just feels a bit different. The downdrift has a much tougher face fabric, that I'm sure adds to the overall warmth, and wind resistance.
