Like... genuinely the concept of the Dark Urge is horrific and sad if you're playing someone who desperately doesn't want to do this and is trying at every turn to get help and warn the people around them... But there's something both darkly hilarious and weirdly touching about the responses as well. Funny as it is that they all kind of brush it off or assume it's just standard stuff, they're all also very understanding and reassuring. If the Dark Urge WAS talking about just standard "Not having a viscerally bad reaction to killing", the things they say would be very kind. But the Dark Urge ISN'T talking about that, and so it's just frustrating and isolating.

In fairness, these are people who live in a world where violence and death is not an uncommon occurrence (in their profession as soldiers and adventurers, I mean. Most ordinary civilians would probably still be greatly disturbed by your confession.) Every single one of them has killed people, perhaps LOTS of people, and are thus somewhat desensitized to death and the regular bloodlust that comes with battle. To be fair, calling Jaheira blunt would mean that you think hammers cut, it is THAT much of an understatment. And for what I'm watching, years hadn't made her any less cutting with her remarks (pun not intended... at first, now I'm keeping it). That and she has experience with bhaalspawns, both good and bad. So you haven't "earned yet" the "mercy" of Death, unlike Sarevok, because you still aren't at that point. You may end as Gorion's ward, and earn instead the joy of Life. So to speak. Or you may end in between, a murder machine, but without control, unlike Sarevok. In that case, it would truly be merciful to kill your PC.

It also makes sense they'd all respond the way they do, seeing as how he and the other companions don't fully understand the gravity of it all, lol. He comforts (as previously mentioned) as best as he can, and he of course cares about Durge just like almost all of the other companions do (except for Minthara lol, she's actually just EVIL). Funny, everyone's initial thoughts on the Durge mirror peoples' reactions to mental illness in real life. Interesting.

I don't blame the majority of them brushing it off because they literally *can't* understand what it is like to be Bhaalspawn. Only Jaheria knows because she is the companion of the Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 protagonist. She witnessed firsthand their own "dark urge" to hurt people when she saw the Slayer Form. But at least with Lae'zel, she at least offers some suggestions on how to calm the urge even though she doesn't understand the full nature of it. And Minthara is right to be weary due to her own people's experiences.

I am about to finish my playthrough as Dark Urge who resists the urge. Most of the companions do treat the urge as if it is a mildest thing. Companions who are abojt to die lost memories sold their souls do not carr about the murderous intetn potential curse etc. Dark Urge sure seems like is a afterthough last moment addition to me. I still enjoyed it though.

i think that the only thing it needs is to tune the reactions of companions that have been warned vs not been warned. Thats the thing makes it feel weird is that even if you warned them about your urges and being a Baalspawn then when the Alfira and Gortash scenes happen they react like you never told them. Is understanble if everyone doesnt get the gravity of what the DU is confessing but after Alfira they all should be like "oh shit, THIS is what you were refering to".
