When the fnaf world teasers were being posted back when I was in middle school I was so stoked that I decided to write Scott an over enthusiastic email. In it I mentioned that "if you're adding characters to the game don't forget the crying child and the paper palls, I think they'd be fun to play!" The next day both characters had been added to the teaser along with I think an endo. It was probably just a coincidence but ever since I've felt personally responsible for the paper pals being a reoccurring character

Of course, I'm just speculating, but Cassidy has no reason to be in hell so we can (possibly?) assumed Cassidy went there on their own volition and power, and if they can access William's personal hell at will, then it would be logical that they can also control that environment, creating the other animatronics to torment the purple man. I also say that because I personally don't think it makes any sense for someone to be hallucinating in a metaphysical plane of existence where (I'm assuming) they are simply a spirit that doesn't need to eat or have other restraints brought by the brain.

Pretty sure the paper pals are the most important characters in the whole series.

The one difference I have with this theory is that I firmly headcanon Paper Buddy escaped the FNAF3 fire and the only reason he’s not in SB and Ruin is because he’s simply too good at teleporting (he was the only one capable of it in FNAF2, so he’s definitely better at it than Paper Bonnie and Paper Freddy, who only learned how to teleport decades later) for Fazbear Ent to catch him and put him in the Pizzaplex.

I think, in a franchise where everything can mean anything, and anything could solve everything, the Paper Pals are just supposed to be that one thing that keeps coming back for no reason with no purpose or relation to anything else. Kinda like Kracko in Kirby, he ALWAYS shows up no matter how unlikely, but he never has any significant role in the story, the Paper Pals are the same, they’re just Always There.

The Paper Pals are 100% the best characters. People have complained about how major lore characters were all killed off, and how 3 of the OG 4 animatronics (not including Golden Freddy) have had major character reworks (except Foxy. He’s still Foxy), and yet the Paper pals have been around since FNaF 2, and other than going through the same Cawthon to Steel Wool visual degrade that most of the old characters went through, they’re still the same Paper Pals (except that time when they weren’t)

SW should have never gotten involved with FNaF outside of Help Wanted, imo. Security Breach reeks of sheer incompetence and overambition. It still baffles me how they made a game so fundamentally broken and unfinished while having almost three years to work on it. It's like the Sonic Boom of the FNaF series. And yeah, they're definitely the best characters lmao.

I don’t get how they made a great VR game, then a bunch of games ranging from really terrible to pretty good but unplayably broken, then made Ruin, which, while not perfect (you literally can’t see a major easter egg if you missed *any* of the wet floor signs during the daycare section), is still way better than anything since Help Wanted.

I love these guys so much! I can’t believe how different they look in all the Steel Wool fnaf games! ( as someone who made these goobers [ + the silly squad ] IRL, it’s shocking how much they got {wrong?} on these designs.

I mean.. they're just decorations.. (They did the bite of 87 btw)

I think the bonnie one having only one pupil and having tears running down it's face might resemble Shadow Bonnie or be a very abstract version of a springlock failure (dark liquid comes from the face, eyes might be destroyed unevenly, fnaf 2's location seems to come right after Fredbear's Family Diner)

I always assumed that it was a reference to Bonnie from FNAF 1, one of his eyes were missing went he went to a corner of the pizzeria.

I never realized how fricking huge the paper pals were until you showed the security breach clips- they are more terrifying than the glam rocks- dang

I’ve always read them as being the 3 main driving forces in the series. The Puppet (see the 3 buttons and lanky limbs), Springtrap (Crooked ears, tear tracts, and in FNAF 3 dark yellow color) and Golden Freddy (yellow eyes originally, moreso symbolic really, but the FNAF 3 version goes full yellow). This is also why in FNAF 3 the Puppets is down, her day is done and she’s no longer able to fight Afton. It’s just Afton and Cassidy now.

And yeah they changed Bonnie's to purple from the original black so that has to be a link to shadow Bonnie meaning more than we also thought. Also bc of the movie the smiling paper buddie is 100% balloon boy

It's also possible that they had to recreate the paper bunny and freddy, because they did burn at fnaf 3.

Why does one of the new paper pals from FNAF6 have a flower that matches the flower in the bedroom from FNAF4's cutscenes/mini games?

I do believe that the paper pals originated from the Fredbear restaurant, and due to their smaller stature, the animatronics mistaken them as children.

Everytime any video shows something that moves when you don't see it, it gives me Weeping Angel vibes and I feel the need to never stop looking at it so it won't move

Can we mention that the paper plate pals are also in help wanted 2 in the pizzeria as well at different sizes depending if you have the mask on or not? After watching this after the release of hw2 I think it’s weird that they are all included in the 3 games (wouldn’t steel wool make different versions like Scott did in pizzeria simulator?) it’s just something to think about

I think that their continued inclusion in the games is a combination of the fact that they help make the game locations look like real places that real children have been too and the fact they are an iconic part of fnaf's visual style at this point, just like the checkered floor and the balloons

i think the change to black in security breach and help wanted are to say they represent shadow bonnie and freddy and I think paper buddy is just a kids representation of themself
