When I first heard this in 1987 - I was blown away. Sure, the first 2 levels (Wastelands and Wilderness) also had great music, but this was perfect for the feeling of nearing your final goal. The initial part eminded me of the intro of Dire Straits "Walk of Life"
I played this game ALOT as a kid .. man this gave me sooo much nostalgia and chills. Thank you for the memories. Life were simplier back then.
For me the Amiga has always been my favourite home computer, but it was through the C-64 that I learned to appreciate computer music. Many will claim it's simplistic, but like many a C-64 composer has said, the limitations forced them to make their tunes more melodic, ultimately creating very distinct music. Just like you know a Mike Oldfield soundtrack by listening to a few bars, so it is with the SID chip. Many has tried to make remakes/remixes of classic C-64/Amiga tunes and ultimately failed - even the original composers - because those tunes were never meant to support 12, 20 or 80 instruments. This remake, however, is a masterclass in how it should be done: The essence of the SID is still very much there and what is added to it is supporting, not drowning, the original tune. Very impressed, Mr Gray - for what it's worth, it's not something I find easy to be.
I believe Anthony Lees would be proud of this remake. Good job Matt Gray.
I used to load this game just to listen to the music. Fantastic atmospheric remake!! Best wishes! Safe journeys!

I don't recall ever playing the Last Ninja/Last Ninja 2, but some of these tunes have stuck with me...I especially appreciate "The Street Loader Cover". Maybe I should play the games...

The Last Ninja and The Last Ninja 2 from System 3 are two of the best games of the C64 in the 1980s! Also the music from Ben Daglish (C64) and Anthony Lees (Amiga) are awesome!
