Raddampfer "Freya"
Let yourself be captivated by the original atmosphere aboard the 112-year- old stylish paddle steamer "Freya". Listen to the hissing and pounding of the old steam engine , which you can watch from the salon through the glassed-in shop windows while driving, as well as the rotating side wheels.
Freya's original name is "Westerschelde" and it was launched on 12 September 1905 in Kinderdijk (Netherlands). Originally she was built as a ferry for the "Provincial Stoomboot Services in Zeeland" (PSD). She served various routes on the two waterways Westerschelde and Oosterschelde until 1933. During her years serving the PSD, she also served as a royal yacht for Queen Wilhelmina in 1907.
She is berthed in the German port of Kiel and runs regular excursions. See her timetable here:
