Climate change is affecting parasites, but not in the way you’d expect.

I hope that someday we make more decisions from this level of awareness. She summed it up well at the end, parasites are part of ecodiversity, the system runs on relationships between organisms and environment in a ludicrously complex dance.
Why channel like this get so little recognition? I truly appreciate your effort to make us aware of new perspectives on parasites and hope your team will continue doing this in the future
High quality content👍
an interesting video which I hesitate to agree with on a subjective level, but objectively now understand the use of haha
subject dear to my heart, riddled from prehistoric parasites collected from all over the world, we all host the land and our own bodies for all, and there is no simple easy experience, its going to take everyone, all the time, our whole lives, to cultivate very delicate biodiversities and enjoy the rewilding, you work at it till ya die

I don't get it. In few words, why do we need parasites?

@@chrisrus1965 Some ecosystems are extremely specialized, one requires the other to exist, if one of those animals goes extinct (some of those being parasites) it could cause a chain reaction which destroys the entire ecosystem, the video goes more in depth
Toxoplasma Gondii. 1/3 of humanity shares their body with this parasite. If you're not showing symptoms and not pregnant/immunocompromised, the parasite has no ill effects, however it does have measurable effects on our behavior.
How is this not at a million views yet amazing video ❤️
Really a terrific video. Love the use of stock footage and the cinematography was great. Pretty bummed for the complex parasites
"consider it for awhile." Ah the angst of the parasite inside me!!
Ever hear the story about the successful business man who destroyed his neighbors mail boxes so they'd hire him to put up a new one? He did that when he was a teenager.
wonderful video, it reminds me a bit of the educational vox videos :)
Oh, grist is back, nice.
So good.
I think the gap that is left by more specified parasites is partially filled by ones much more annoying and dangerous to human population such as mosquitos f.e. that conquer the space we basically culture for them. How big of an impact some invasive mammals, reptiles, invertebrates or plants can have on an ecosystem makes me think about how parasitic life might have even bigger ones we didnt yet unravel 🤔
So the grasshopper brain just has a "jump in the water" button? Explian this, scientist

It's the button 2 μm right of the one that rabies pushes to make mammals violently and reflexively terrified of water.

Of course it's not that simple but if you wish, enzymes, hormons and other messenger substances work like buttons or triggers. Normally they are sent out to control the beings body functions etc. by the being itself, parasites use that mechanism to hack the host for their purpose, press the buttons you could say 😄 At least that's one method I know about.
