The Outer Limits Goofs and Facts

Ойын-сауық

In this video I we explore goofs and fun trivia facts from the original Outer Limits television series of the 1960s with it's crazy sci-fi monsters from space, robots, and time travel. See the goofs that made it to the final cut on many episodes and learn trivia facts you might not have known such as which monster made it's way to the Munsters television series.
Along the way through the Outer Limits television series learn some trivia on the great actors that were featured on the show like Leonard Nimoy from Star Trek, Cliff Robertson, Eddie Albert from Green Acres, and more.
I also give my thoughts on which monsters were the worst and which episodes were the best of the TV series such as the episodes, Soldier written by Harlan Ellison and Premonition.

You're right. Sources say producer Ben Brady, brought in to replace Joseph Stefano, made it clear to the ABC that he hated science fiction and made drastic changes to the production. And it showed.

One thing you missed was if you look at the ADAM the robot he's got two strips of siver duct tape they used to hold the tow halves of his suit together . You can see it in the scene here where he falls & the car runs backwards . Still my favorite TV show as a kid in the 60s. One reason it was as good as it was is they always used the best writers around which gave the stories meaning & a moral.

The creatures were sometimes cheesy, however, the black and white film, the story lines, and the music were usually so powerful that I for one could see past the silly creatures in some episodes. Other episodes, I thought they did a great job with the creature effects for the time. I remember as a kid watching these reruns, always getting creeped out, yet always coming back for more.

Oh man, I was in first grade when this series first aired. I watched it faithfully and then related the story I had just seen to my teacher (who was horrified that my parents allowed me to watch sci fi). The Monday, November 18, 1963 (Corpus Earthling) aired just a few days befoer JFK was shot in Dallas. The series was temporarily suspended the following week fresh on the heels of the assassination, and did not return until December.

I bought the whole series of The Twilight Zone on DVD and what a great purchase. Then I bought The Outer Limits, uh, yeah. I watched all of them and I was stunned they were so - not very good. So many people said if you like TZ you will like TOL, but no not really. There were a few that were ok, but that's it. You showed most of the best here. Now, the 90s version was way better and I loved all those that I got to see, which is about 20 or so. The big surprise to me was Tales from The Crypt. I got that whole show on DVD and it turned out to be a gruesome and often funny (dark funny) version of the Twilight Zone. Gross yes, but really good twist endings and solid stories. Maybe that show will get reviewed here some time.

I like the 90's version too, but they seem to have way too many sad endings where the character dies at the end. The actual twist happens when they surprise you with a happy ending.😀 I've been watching that whole series on DVD over the last year.

Mr. I Dream Of Jeannie. I just watched and Interview with Barbara Eden (92 years old and still the same old adorable woman), and it was from a few weeks ago and she was so hard on herself for the break up in her marriage to Michael Ansara. She really showed how much she loved him and regretted that it went sour like it did. As a fan of both her and him, and a true romantic it was nice to see her love was real even her ability to keep it together fell short.

I have to admit Corpus Earthling and Cry of Silence scared the heck out of me! My favorite episodes were The Guests and Demon with a glass hand,Keeper of the purple twilight and Architects of fear had a very sad ending. It would be cool if they re did all these episodes but keep the stories the same and upgrade the special effects.

I recently watched the entire original series as I had only caught certain episodes re-run on TV over the years. There are some diamonds in the rough (the Harlan Ellison episodes, a few others), but overall it's a lot of B-movie stuff of very little substance. I know some people like that, and it's fine, but the original Twilight Zone ranks a bit higher for me. Although TZ has its stinkers too; most anthology series do. I'm working through the 90s The Outer Limits series now, wish me luck.

I was watching the Outer limits one Saturday afternoon on TV back in the 1960's when I was 9 years old, My mother was carrying a load of laundry walking past the living room at the time of the opening scene with the control voice saying "This is not a test" as the screen had the scrambled signal going back and forth, I heard a noise behind me as my mother dropped the hamper full of laundry on the floor and asked in a panicked voice What is that? I said I don't know just to see her reaction, She was staring at the TV for several seconds with jaw open and bug eyes then realized it was just a TV show and said laughing, you knew what that was, it's that weird show you always watch The outer goonies or whatever its called, Back then it was during the height of the cold war and adults were worried about the Russians launching missiles at any minute and that opening looked like a government warning

Uh, relative to your comment about Soldier, you’re not seeing more of the frame than originally shot. It’s been stretched and otherwise adjusted to fit today’s new screen dimensions, and the Blu-ray quality produced from the original masters provides greater resolution, sharpness and clarity to the image than 1960s tech could produce for broadcast purposes. The stage hand on the prop was there all along. We just could not see it well enough to know what it was, much less even notice it in the first place.
