I think goku GT isn't the best character in the history of the game comparatively, UI Goku and SSJ4 Gogeta top him easily, but we are now in an Environment where every single character (exept my boy frieza) is at the very least a solid character, so it doesn't matter as much how busted UI and Fusions are (and boy are they busted), when for its time the Rat Boy was comparatively far stronger than anything the game had seen before (besides maybe Season 1 16 but he was long nerfed at that point). But he's also gotten quite a bit of nerfs, especially his specials and ultimate were made far less broken, now he's just a solid mid- to high-tier At least that's my Interpretation of the history up until today, I personally only joined mid season 3 so I never experienced this part and mostly pieced it together from MoldyBagel Videos lmao.

They had like 12 gokus to milk more DLC, and they didn't want transformation characters for whatever reason. Also GT goku was broken in season 2 specifically, because his lv.3 super spirit bomb had a 4 way mix that was the best oki in the game. DBFZ was really bad about releasing new broken DLC characters and fucking the meta for extended periods of time, only to nerf them and release a new one.
