The Other Side of the River S7E1

For decades us Texans have gazed upon the northern shores of the Red river thinking to ourselves how great it would be if they would ever open the doors for night hunters. We never dreamed we would ever see Oklahoma territory turn fair game to hunting at night but they finally did it. Thanks to the help of a couple of life-long friends and cattle ranchers, a landowner finally has the tools to rid of problem coyotes to protect the animals he raises for your food. For decades Oklahoma's night hunting laws were written in ways that tied the hard working ranchers hands behind his back.....not any more! On this Night Crew season 7 opener we will help you better understand just how much has changed and for the better.

This is a surprise! I remember being there for training in 2007 and having the sad realization that night hunting was off the table. Glad it’s starting to take a turn for the better. Alabama is charging people a fee to hunt hogs and coyotes at night when they should be paying a bounty instead. Great content as one can expect from you! You cover the awesome hunting as well as the topics that need more attention. Keep them coming!

My representatives basically tell me to get lost and they know what's best. Nothing will change in some states until the representatives are voted out that don't represent but unfortunately once that party comes in they are hard to get out. In my state people are saying that farmers and hunters don't matter and need to move.

As a Brit we normally have some envy over shooting in the states…. But over here once you have your license there is only minimum calibre really for ethics when shooting vermin/pest species. My most common hunting at night is 30% thermal scope and 70% IR/NV and our quarry is red fox 🦊 rifle calibres me and my shooting buddy use are: .222, .223, 300 Black Out, .243, 6.5 creedmore, 6mm .284 & 7mm STW! Having said that I don’t think you would be getting larger centre fires for shooting rabbits (cotton tails).

What happened to ZRO Delta mounts. I bought a couple about 2 years ago. A couple of my friends are now interested so when I was trying to send them the website it is no longer there. Did they change their site? I hope they are still around. My mounts are still working great after two years of switching back and forth from scope to thermal several times a month.

Cats are off limits in Louisiana at night as well, AND one may only shoot one per calendar year during daylight hours. Foxes even have more protections. I have watched a few bobcats while pig hunting at night. I am waiting to see this year's cat in the daylight.

@@paulhuval I have seen a LOT of bobcats, even in town. There are several 5 lane urban highways that I have seen more than one run over. All of our bayous and long growing seasons keep the cats, yotes, hogs, raccoons fed. Of course fur trapping has gone downhill immensely, thanks to PETA and their ilk. Seeing more gray foxes in suburban areas as well. Have always had red foxes nearby, but definitely more gray/grey.

@williamgaines9784 I have been trapping hogs around here a lot. One location we caught 60 hogs in one month. I still trap everything else too but sell the foxes and yotes to a fox pen the only way I make any money on those.

Using birdshot to kill coyotes is insane. The legislators who past that law and refused to change it should have been charge with animal cruelty. That would have to be the most unethical law on the books. Birdshot on anything bigger than a rabbit is nuts. Also, don't they know that birdshot or any other shot is for close range only.

Now we have more cats than dogs. five is the most I have called off a calf pasture, but there is another gem you should try... Hay fields! 12 from one field is my record, and they keep coming back after you shoot!

love all these videos. i'm also in favour of being able to protect your own. however, i've never accepted the sheer amount of land farmers take from nature forcing wildlife into smaller and smaller areas the same way white man took from the natives forcing them into reservations. wildlife populations get reduced and when they manage to bounce back, the mentality is to kill them off

#269👍⚡This is out on 100+ acre ranches. I saw 2 of these varmints on my street last night. Across the street is a country club. We need the predators because no one hunts here anymore. 50 years ago I used to shoot gophers on the golf course during the day with a pump up pellet pistol. Exterminated that problem because the greens keeper got the club management to realize a 14 year old and his dog were no hazard to the golfers. It is strictly illegal to shoot a pellet gun in the city limits today! Rediculous!! Too many blackmail deer are eating everything from the ground up to 6 feet! We need a cougar.

Not only do you have the right to protect your cattle, you have a God ordained obligation to exercise stewardship over nature. Nature is in no wise the perfect paradise it is so often made out to be. That is by humans are given a mind to address failure in nature.
