The Other Herzl: The Legacy of Rav Kook | Great Jewish Heroes | Unpacked

In the early days of Zionism, the front-runners of the movement were largely secular Jews, many of whom were staunchly anti-religious.
This all changed with Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook, who is accredited with shaping religious Zionism as it’s still known today.
Born in Latvia in 1865, the young Talmudic prodigy had a love of speaking Hebrew and felt a deep mystical connection to both God and the Jewish homeland.
When Rav Kook came to the Land of Israel in 1904, he became Chief Rabbi of Jaffa. He saw the divide between secular and religious Jews and worked towards bridging the gap between them. He furthered that mission as the first Ashkenazi “Chief Rabbi of Eretz Yisrael” from 1921 to 1935.
Today, 90 years after his death, Rav Kook’s teachings continue to shape religious Zionism and inspire millions to love the people and the land of Israel.

@@jamesbond1348 I do not think he actually means that. What I understand he means is that like in many religions, religious authorities speak a different language that sometimes we don’t understand because they are a little bit detach from people. In other words; there is a burden put on people. Like Jesus said . Well….apparently things has not change that much from those days but at least the church is making an effort to change that and that applause.

The statement at the end of the video that most jews (or even most orthodox jews) will know who you are talking about if you simply say "HaRav" is inaccurate. There are multiple people known as HaRav in different orthodox communities, and HaRav is used a respectful way to address a living Rabbi in the third person. Since this video is primarily intended (at least in my perception) for non-hebrew speaking and non-orthodox audience, I think this should be removed from the end of the video, as if someone who watches this video goes and speaks to an orthodox jew or secular israeli and says "HaRav" in abstract, the answer will be one of confusion and "which rav?"

It has nothing to do with what other people did to them. They are taught they are gonna be regretted for what they do in every land that is why they were thrown out of most countries several times in history. They know they deserve it they just want to avoid the consequences by blaming it collectively on others. After all that is what their yom kippur ritual is all about. Seems like their writings are a blueprint to a plan of world domination through usury and other means of deceptions like christianity and communism, freemasonry etc.

Correction: the claim that all halitzim were secular and antitheists (anti religion) in incorrect. Although it is true that the first communes and most of the people who came in the second and third alliya were secular, many religious jews arrived to the land in between 1850-1939. If memory serves correctly, half of the people who established petach tikva (which doesnt exist xD) were religious

As a Muslim I have always been told about Neturei Karta when it comes to Ultra-Orthodox Jews that they represent the authentic religious Jewish view about Israel. That according to them real Torah Jews hate Israel and regard Jews who live in Israel or have love for Israel as apostates and not real Jews. After thoroughly reading up on Haredi views about Israel, I now realize that many of them are not really against living in the land of Israel and they have been in communication with other Jews in Israel. They just have a range of different views about how to deal with the State of Israel, some are neutral, some are quite supportive, and while there are still many who uphold non Zionist or even anti Zionist views, the Neturei Karta who burn the Israeli flags and wave the Palestinian flags or meet with the Iranian leaders in the Holocaust denial event are just a very fringe group within the Haredim.

Among the Orthodox, some of the Jews are Not Zionists because they believe Israel must be founded on the spiritual principle including the Great Temple, or the messiah is some form, as king for example. The original term for the concept is actually Tsionism, and in Hebrew it implicates a diversity within Judaism and peaceful coalition with our neighbours, as I understand it.

The Kuntillet ‘Ajrud inscriptions mention blessings by the names of YHWH of Samaria and YHWH of Teman. Like all ancient Near Eastern gods, these two regional gods must have had central temples. This article examines their possible locations and suggests that the combination of the Kuntillet ‘Ajrud inscriptions with the eighth-century prophecies of Amos and Hosea holds the key for identifying these. In light of a detailed analysis of Hosea’s and Amos’ prophecies, it is further suggested that YHWH of Samaria was the name of the major God of the Kingdom of Israel and his main temple was located at Bethel, and that YHWH of Teman was the name of the God of the southern desert regions and his temple was located at Beer-sheba. Israelite traders who traveled southward probably visited the latter god’s temple, offered him sacrifices, made vows to repay him if they succeed in the expedition, and thus turned him to be their patron god during their travel in the desert region. This suggested identification explains why the Judahite cult place of Beer-sheba appears in Amos’ prophecy alongside the Israelite sanctuaries of Bethel, Gilgal, and Dan.

@@hrvatskinoahid1048 The concept of the twin messiah was written about in the books of hee brew philosophers. One is making the way for the other. quote: "if he (David) calls him lord how then is he his son?" The two messiahs represent the same godhead. Two different aspects. It's a trap for the nations. Jeez was "sold" to the nations like Joseph by the brews to infiltrate the egyptian government as an agent of the brews and destroy the egyptian people from within posing as a saviour to the egyptians and to ruin their economy while the brews are robbing egyiptians collectively. Before the ground was getting hot they manufacture an event to be able to flee. That is why "I raise a banner for the nations and they will follow him" and "he is ruling among the nations with an iron rod" is written in the tanakh. If you ask me I advise people to stay away from ideologies which have gods that destroys everything and anyone because simply put people are the way their gods are and judaism is a ruthless tool of world domination and world government tyranny. Jeez was a planned literary devise to mislead and subdue the nations (goyim as they say) in the book of old conspiracy. Reading your name you seem to be already subjugated. Snap out of it hrvatski.
