The Osmonds - Movie Man (1973) *RARE VIDEO*

Музыка

Oh boy! Would you look at this!! Now there can be no debate that Alan is the singer on this one. This is the best quality, sorry.
I do not own this video, nor do I take credit for it in any way. All I wish to do is share it with all the other Osmond fans.

I found a 2nd hand copy of this 45 sometime in the 90s and bought it without knowing anything about the song or the album it came from - hell I wasn't even really fond of the Osmonds either! At the end of each year I make a list of my fave songs of the year, regardless of when they were released. Movie Man topped my 1996 list.

I had no idea that Alan was the lead on this song. I wasn’t an immediate fan of their concept album, “The Plan” but it has quickly grown on me. The song definitely has a Beatles influence to it and is quite quirky. The Osmonds never cease to amaze me - they are musical geniuses.

Yes, the first time I heard it I thought it sounded like "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite". I didn't know who was singing either - but I knew not Merrill, so I crossed my fingers and asked Alan on the internet, and he answered and told me it was him! Absolutely- if only everyone thought they were talented!

Thank you, I don't recall ever seeing this. The Plan is a beautiful album with so many messages and styles of music. For years I thought Let me in was just a love song, but one day it just hit me that it is more a song of repentance and realisation that we really do need spiritual guidance as we can make so many mistakes going on in our own 'sweet' way. As for Movie Man, it shows we have to be accountable for our actions. Great songs

  • @osarecool

    2 жыл бұрын

Let's see,I'll describe it best I can, Alan of course can do it better. It's about what you do on earth. Do you think your actions here do not have consequences? "Why did you do it?" Why did you sin? "You laugh and you smile, try to run away, don't you know what you do you might regret one day? There is one who has eyes on your evil ways, the Movie Man." -God. God is watching at all times. "Even what you're thinking, everyone will know. That's the day you'll have to take the stand..." God knows everything you think and do, one day it will all be revealed. Will you be able to account for all your sins? "Don't take it too easy" - Don't relax or become to at ease. You could go, well this one little lie won't hurt.... "Please don't let me see you cry, let me say I'm sorry." Don't let Jesus weep for another lost soul. That's about repenting and saying sorry. --- And that's what I think it means...
