Then why did she always choose NOT to be with him? At every turn when she had the choice she always took the path leading away from him. In the end she used his past to justify not being with him. She knew what he was. She knew he had a very bloody past. Not like she was a saint either. She killed plenty. But seeing his past in his mind turned her off him? The reason they didn't end up together is because she CHOSE not to be with him.

She says all this then runs from him when she sees how dark it can get...

I feel like their setting up Hayley to die. Elijah will take her to france in her mind.

TL;DR No I don't find it weird. Well to be fair he didn't "just" fall in love with her. At the start he did care for her since everyone around treated her only as the mother of Klaus's child and not herself as an individual. Even after Hayley expressed her feelings for him he said nothing could ever happen between them for Klaus's sake. It was only after he finally accepted that Klaus does not and is not ever likely to develop any sort of romantic feelings for her, that he could pursue a relationship with her.

Honestly not really. When it’s meant to be it’s meant to be. Yes it’s weird but haylijah loved each other since the very first moment they laid eyes on each other, they respected each other unlike klayley cuz Klaus thought her end Tyler were having an affair. It wasn’t like stelena & delena were Hayley had to choose between two brothers cuz klayley only had a one night stand and they never had any romantic feelings for each other. Everyone in the mikaelson family didn’t think it was weird and they shipped them so hard, even Hope and children tend to want their parents together. So if it wasn’t weird to them it’s not weird to me unlike the Salvatores who literally kept having seggs with the same girls and would fall for them.😂😂

Hayley didn't really love Elijah. Every single chance she had she chose not to be with him. She knew exactly what he was but she uses his past to tell him she can't be with him? How many did SHE kill in order to protect herself and Hope? But she blames Elijah for his past? She always took the way out. She never gave herself 100% to him.

Halery is young, she didn't have the time to kill as many as Elijah. But she sure racked up a lot of kills in that short time. But that didn't matter to her when it came to judging Elijah. Every single time she had the chance to choose him she went another way. That isn't love. Oh and whenever it was convenient she LIKED Elijah laying waster to their enemy. She even told him once, "don't hold back". I like her character. But I do not think she really loved him. And even though she told Hope to tell him she was holding out for that dance, she was with Jackson in the afterlife. The man she really loved.
