The Original Five Bells of Eastry, Kent
Eastry contains a very fine mid-weight 8; a five reputed to be 19cwt in Eflat until 2007, they were retuned and augmented in 2007 by Whitechapel, and rehung by Matthew Higby & Co. A video of the octave appears on markcp81's channel already; in this one, the extremely fine tenor bell (1740 Robert Catlin) is seen being rung up, and then the original five bells being lowered after a quarter peal of Grandsire Triples, with a very nice miss-and-catch in Weasels at the bottom. :-) Again, shame about the camera synch :-( And the camera hasn't quite captured the tenor's hum but it really sounds superb!! :-)

What a lovely eight!
that must be one of the oldest demonstration bells about!!
These sound glorious!
You're welcome, glad you enjoyed it!!
They certainly do, a very grand boomy ring!! :-)
interesting video, thanks
Nice to see & hear five bells rung properly ie slowly. As with ballet dancing, ringing slowly (the right speed) takes more skill than ringing faster as is often very apparent when watching these KZread clips.
They are nice indeed, very good boom to then. I like heavy bells too, although my favourite would have to be a good 20-25cwt ring in Eflat or D, glorious!! :-)
I can assure you that the ring of five didn't sound anything like that before retuning! They were diar :-0

how mid they sound like
Those people look bored lol but very good bell ringing - i done it with my wife in the past and it is very hard to do.
The main part was indeed the ringing down, returning the bells to the mouth-down position. Did you spot the nursery rhyme at the end?
Nor was I dressed as a cockerel ;-)
Thats a very old demonstration model
Are those ropes soft?
At least I wasent dressed like Kermit the frog in a blender this day ;)
Awsome sound! Was this the "ringing down" or how you call that?
