These ten words acted as the trigger for the Winter Soldier programming in the mind of Bucky Barnes, embedded by HYRDA. Civil War leaves us on a cliffhanger in Bucky’s journey to overcome the grasp HYDRA still has on his mind, only to skip over his recovery entirely by the time Infinity War comes around. How did Black Panther (T’Challa) help him recover? Why did Bucky need to go back into cryostasis? Great news: we have the answers to that and more.
As Marvel’s Cinematic Universe expands with their range of shows on Disney+, we are learning more and more about our favorite characters from the movies. Steve Roger’s childhood friend James Buchanan Barnes AKA The Winter Soldier AKA White Wolf has plenty of mystery and conspiracy tied to his dark past as the fist of HYDRA, but Falcon and the Winter Soldier has begun illuminating some of this previously unexplored MCU lore. What else have the movies been skipping over? Just how was Bucky freed from HYDRA’s mind control? Bucky’s character development with all its complexities is one of the absolute bests in MCU. And only Sebastian Stan could portray such a character. He deserves everything good and I hope they do him justice in the show. A Bucky Barnes’ fan forever 🤍

He was my favorite before I knew there was supposed to be a show lol
They literally use him like a machine, an actual machine. So glad that he finally got a chance to enjoy life in the end of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Seeing him happy and smiley in those series make my heart warm.
Bucky's arc was always fascinating even before FatWS, the show just strengthened it and made him even more sympathetic. As it should. Favorite character outside the OG 6. Props to Sebastian for such a brilliant job!
Poor Bucky he deserves the world.

He's not really an Anti-Hero. While he was a villain that's due to his conditioning. Anyone who watched the movies and show would've easily came away with the simple truth that Bucky and the Winter Soldier are effectively two separate entities. It's like saying Bruce Banner is an Anti-Hero due to the destruction caused by the Hulk.
Best character in the MCU. The winter soldier movie is also the best standalone film in the MCU

Great video 👍 But I have 2 gripes #1 We see in CA:CW that Bucky is in control while Zemo is reading the words until he reads the very last one. He is trying to break out so he can stop him from completing the sequence. When Ayo is testing Bucky he doesn't start crying because he's free. He tells Ayo it's not going to work. As she gets closer to the end his tears are welling up and he's trembling. After he realizes he is really free, the tension he has been holding is released and he starts to sob. Which doesn't last long before he stops crying and has a big smile on his face. ❤ #2 You make it sound like Seb Stan moved to the US to become an actor. He was 12 yrs old. He moved because of his mom moved.
Bucky Barnes is easily one of the Marvel's most tragic characters.
Damn! BUCKY BARNES, SEBBY BABY, WINTER SOLDIER, BEEFY BUCKY (whatever you wish to call him) you truly are my favorite character, actor and eye candy 😍
Awesome video and a great recap of Bucky's MCU history with some nice added comic history to fill the gaps! Props also on the use of clips and the narration was top notch!
I hope Bucky gets his own show. He’s one of the most interesting, complex characters in the MCU. Falcon is boring. Bucky deserves his story to to be told.

I felt like the most logical things one would pack would be some sort of spy survival kit with different identities and currencies, etc., but for some reason that never seemed right to me for what was actually in that backpack. He was originally picked up by soviet troops and then HYDRA would have eventually found him since they were working inside shield at the time

Isaiah was talking about taking half of Bucky's metal arm...which he'd had since the 1940s when Zola's team was operating on him when he'd been found after falling from the train, for which Steve assumed he'd died because he didn't know about Bucky already having the serum.
I have a question. Is there a Solider who where in wwii (real life) who was/is much alike the character Bucky Barnes?I mean, look pretty much the same, served the same unit and fought on the same “events”? I’ve tried myself and I could not find anything, I just through it would be a fun thing to see if there was any soldiers who where alike the character.

I think he's better as a shadow in the world. A quiet vigilante/heroes who help without being recognized or filmed. Sam is better because he can carry the shield in the spotlight in a way that Bucky couldn't

In Civil War there's a flashback where Bucky loses to one of the other Winter Soldiers during a sparring match, so probably not. They were the updated version of him but they got shelved because they weren't as easy to control.
