The Origin: Monasteries Of The Desert, Wadi-Al-Natroun (Egypt) • Abbeys and Monasteries

Фильм және анимация

In 270 AD the young Egyptian Anthony donated his goods to the poor and withdrew into the wilderness. His cell in the barren mountains of the Red Sea shores became the starting point of monasticism which his followers were to spread throughout the Christian World. Today, as ever, the example of St.Anthony inspires Egyptian monks to devote themselves to God and with-draw into the desert, the source of the great monotheistic world religions. "Here nothing speaks, but God alone..".

St Antony monastery is about five hours drive southeast of Cairo. I had a rental car but many people travel by bus. Churches also run pilgrimage visits on a day trip basis. To locate the whereabouts of this monastery look on a map of Egypt where the Red Sea beaches touch it. Then go inland just a few kilometres to the Wadi Arabia and Mount Korazim, which is the site of Antony’s cave. Other monasteries are found in the desert to the west of the road from Cairo to Alexandria, at Wadi el-Ryyan about three and a half hours southwest of Cairo, and in Upper Egypt. You will need a letter sanctioned by the Pope’s Office in Cairo if you wish to stay in any of the monasteries. I have stayed in four of them and visited several others several times, each very different from each other, yet united in the strong bonds of the traditions, practices, language and wisdom of the desert fathers and mothers and their life in Christ for spiritual perfections.

It makes no sense. Between 3 bc and 33 ad are the usual accepted time line for crucifixion for those that take a historic literal interpretation for the event that likely should NOT be taking literal since surrounding events according to be Biblical text vary in time and sequence. 70ad Romans destroy Temple of the Jews. 251ad St. Anthony born. Constatine comes to power in 306ad. Thus in could no connection to Historic Biblical time line or likely anyone living between 3 bc and 70 ad. Before Constatine what came to be know a Christianity was a mystical underground and widely varying movement. So it's sceptical if the true origins of the monastic movement was a reaction to his imposed creeds. Since according to this documentary St. Anthony lived to be 100 and something years old and by time if his death monasticism was firmly in place. Something is hugely missing here.

I don't see the good St.Anthony brought to the world. Jesus told his disciples to go out into the world and preach the good news and heal. He did not say to go hide on a mountain. “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven." Matthew 5:14

    1. Renunciation of Worldly Possessions: Anthony's radical decision to sell his possessions and live a life of asceticism echoes Jesus' call to leave everything and follow Him (Matthew 19:21). This act demonstrates a detachment from material wealth and a focus on spiritual pursuits, which aligns with the gospel's emphasis on seeking the Kingdom of God above all else. 2. Life of Prayer and Solitude: Anthony's dedication to prayer and solitary contemplation in the desert exemplifies a deep communion with God. While the Bible doesn't specifically prescribe monastic life, Jesus himself often withdrew to solitary places to pray (Luke 5:16). Anthony's example inspires believers to prioritize prayer and cultivate a personal relationship with God. 3. Resistance to Temptation: Anthony's battles with demonic temptations highlight the spiritual warfare faced by Christians. The Bible warns about the devil's schemes (Ephesians 6:11) and encourages believers to resist him (James 4:7). Anthony's perseverance serves as an encouragement to stand firm in faith amidst trials. 4. Guidance and Mentorship: Anthony's role as a spiritual guide and mentor to other monks reflects the importance of discipleship in the Christian life. Jesus instructed his followers to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19), and Anthony's influence on early monastic communities demonstrates the power of passing on spiritual wisdom and experience.

Beware of the Antichrist Abbots who make rules and regulations -Luke 16v16 is the end of the Law that binds you so well that you hate the woman that gave birth to you. The woman is the counterpart of God Elohim, Allah, Parbrahm, etc., Universal whilst man of Yahweh, Brahma, Khudah, etc. and Adam. WHY JESUS WAS GIVEN THE NAME “YAHSHUA”? Jesus' Hebrew name "YAHSHUA" is made up of two words; Yah = Yahweh and Shua = Shiva = Primordial Adam. Thus, Mary was “sired” by Yahweh in Hebrew, Brahma in Hindi and Khudah in Arabic, the Lord of the visible creation and our demiurge father in heaven, whom you see in his creation with two naked eyes, and Angel John, the Baptist, Prophet Elijah (My god is Yahweh, Brahma, Khuda, etc., the heavenly father of Jesus) baptized Jesus in the name of his heavenly father “Yahweh,” and the Jews in the name of their tribal forefather Abraham. Thus, Mary was a surrogate mother and Joseph from the tribe of Judah through the line of King David, his adoptive father. This is the First Proof of the Virgin Birth of Jesus.
