I grew up near the Oregon Trail and the history was covered. there are still a lot of ruts and areas where the travelers moved through the Blue Mountains. There are still some wonderful areas east and west of La Grande, OR.

Yeah I saw some stuff from it when visiting Camp Baldwin, near Dufur

I wish I was in a position to be able to record all the historic trails, end to end with drone footage. Good on you for sharing this.

A bird's-eye view to exquisite beauty by means of a drone. Gorgeous! I want to watch more of this before I make more comments but so far it's amazing.

I flew the trail from IL. to the Rockies and was one of the best flights I ever had. Once in the more arid part there is no problem visually following the trail. Never flew more than an hour a day making all the interesting stops along the way. Nice vid, Lee

When I was 9/10 at primary school here in Scotland, we were taught about the pioneer trails crossing America , we were fascinated by them. I remember all these years ago going to our library to find out more. I’m old now but the whole time fascinates me. Thank you 👍😊

Great video. I'm in Nampa and would like to find more remnants of the trail. Rinker Buck wrote a book about his journey on the trail in a covered wagon in about 2014. I'm fascinated by the pioneer history.

Wow! The countryside is so vast and I love learning about the Oregon trail!

It’s a shame they allowed to ride their vehicles on it,,that means it’s not no longer original, in Neb. your not even allowed to walk on it! What a shame!

I've been searching for drone footage of the Oregon Trail, beginning to end. This is the best I've come across so far. For the whole trail, footage would probably have to be sped up, especially through the parts where there are modern roads and ruts are no longer present. But that would be interesting too, most people driving on those roads have no idea the Trail was there.

@@tedbohlman2953 I love the Oregon Trail. Never knew about the ruts until I was in my 40's. I was hooked. Our schools never spoke of these trails or ruts. Watching the videos makes it so real, almost ethereal. ❤️

That was great! I have been watching KZread videos about the trail and your's came up! I also fly drones in New York State.

I have never been to Oregon in my 67 years. I never knew Oregon had desert landscape. Always thought it was green and lush.

I’m glad u watched the video. That was actually filmed in the Idaho portion of the trail near Boise, but yes, over half of Oregon, the eastern part is more arid,

I would think that the pioneers would have reached this part of the trail by mid to late August on their journey. Great job Ted.

You r right. Leave Independence Mo. in April, arrive idaho by Sep. 2000 miles journey when completed. Thanx for watching!

Thx, lovely landscapes! Would love to have seen scenes tied to a map and routing!

There's a pioneer grave in the Oregon desert near Bend. I can tell you where to find it. It's a mile or two from any paved road, but a flat hike. I'd love to see ruts running to/away from it, if it exists. There are also stage coach routes near Bend, with landmarks of camp sites and such. You could come visit and I'll show you around. I'd love to share it with everyone.

Thanks so much for viewing my video and the information provided about grave sites. FYI there is a grave site overlooking the Owyhee river where Pocahontas son Charbonneau is buried. Quite a story. Educated in Europe and quite a man, but wanted to be buried in the Oregon desert overlooking the river. I want to go there some time in spring. Ted

The Santa fe trail is probably harder to trace.

SO INTERESTING BUT WHAT I'M CURIOUS ABOUT IS WHEN THESE POOR SETTLERS ARRIVED WITH NO FOOD LEFT OR MONEY. HOW DID THEY SURVIVE WHEN THEY GOT TO OREGON??

That's and excellent question. They hunted birds, deer and elk in addition to pronghorns. There also were some supply stations along the way. They took abundant flour and staples for the journey also. Thanks for your comment and viewing my channel. Ted Bohlman

They were to haul enough supplies to get them over the " hump" when they first arrived in the West & until they could get themselves situated. I think most did initially start out this way but, anything did & usually could happen. Some sold personal items, bartered, begged, borrowed & went hungry on arrivval.

Crossed many areas of the Trail in our travels. And have used Google Earth to retrace some areas. This is cooler.
