❌ THE ORDINARY FAILS ❌ - 10 Products I wont Recommend

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Sharing with you my top 10 The Ordinary fails and the product from the ordinary skincare which I wouldnt recommend for your own skincare routine.
Hey guys and welcome back to Mad About Skin where in this video I want to share with you 10 products from the ordinary which, since the ordinary price increase i no longer would recommend for your skincare routine. The are the ordinary skincare fails.
The Ordinary is one of my favourite drugstore skincare brands, but as with all brands they have their holy grails and their total fails. In todays video I would like to focus on those fails and the products which I dont not think are worth the money. This comes on the back of the video I recently filmed sharing my the ordinary top 10 which is linked below.
Always remember what works and does not work for me in my skincare routine might be different for others. Whilst these are my fails the ordinary, if you enjoy them then continue to use them.
I would love to know what your holy grails and fails from the ordinary have been so let me know in the comments below.
If you enjoyed this video please let me know by giving it a thumbs up and a like to let me know.

I agree with most your opinions, but I LOVE the peeling solution. I use it a couple of times per month on body and face. But, I've been using acids for 5+ years so I'm a pretty experienced acid user and have really resilient skin. Also, I never follow it up with any potent actives. But I agree, you need to be a more experienced user to actually use it in a way that's beneficial for your skin and doesn't harm you

Great video and wonderful advice. I think I have like four on this list and will probably branch out and try another azelaic acid when I'm done with my multiple back ups. When it comes to the strong exfoliant I use it so sparingly a KZreadr actually thought I was lying when I said I cover my face with like five drops. At that amount I can still feel it working. I like to be frugal. 😊

I agree with what you said about all the Ordinary products. I have used almost every single one of them. With the red peeling solution I think it only really benefited me when I was not regular in my skincare and would have a significant build up of dead skin. It helped me reset which is why I'm not against it as a product. Currently I am very diligent at both my morning and evening routine and could never use anything as strong. I use both Azelaic Acid 20% and Tretinoin 0.1% meaning I do not even use any further exfoliatiants because I literally don't need them and anything else added would just create overexfoliation and damage my skin. The ironi is that people who would benefit from the peeling solution don't have the experience to use it safetly. And the people like myself who do, don't need it because of the routines we already have in place.

I think the Azaleic Acid formulation is a dream. It leaves my face satiny soft like no other product. I also like the 10% Glycolic toner, especially for the size of the bottle and strength.

I have to disagree, I love the retinol 1% in squalene. Totally has changed my skin for the better. I like the oily feel as it’s only used at night and I wake up smelling of bagels.

There is a niche use for the10% Niacin serum. In case anyone else has extremely oily eyelids try just a little on the lid - I got this tip from You Tube, I forget whose channel. Due to an eye condition, by mid-morning the oil from my lids used to run into my eyes and sting…it has never happened since I started putting the niacin on my lids, they stay matte all day. I have been doing this for 5 years - that’s a lot of pain that tip saved me!

I agree on the glycolic acid. I have it in my phone's calendar for every Saturday, that's all I can handle. I quit their retinol/retinoids for tretinoin, still use the Ascorbic Acid with Alpha Arbutin for dermarolling but may be phasing it out, I am hooked on the niacinamide serum and I don't know why I can't get away from it, it doesn't foam up on me or cause any irritation. I have the hyaluronic acid at this time but I'm not replacing it because I have the Q+A marine hyaluronate toner, and I love the peeling solution. I have skin that can handle it every now and then.

The Glycolic toner is still good value for me (although I am fuming at the gaslighting price increase). I use it instead of the Alpha H Liquid Gold, which completely cured my adult acne more than a decade ago. I only apply it on my face two nights a week as well as on my body. I am smoother than a dolphin thanks to it. It also performs amazingly well as a deodorant. I also use the peel but I follow the instructions scrupulously and I have never had a problem, (I do shake it before application). Thank you Rob 💙🙏🏻🕊🌞. Could you please do a comparison of TO Glucoside foaming cleanser and Q+A Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Cleanser? 🙏🏻😘

I'm new to the ordinary, so I have a few questions I hope someone can answer. I have brought and opened the glycolic acid, so there is no chance to exchange. You mentioned and others have commented using it on the scalp if you have thining hair, yep that's me, so how do you use it? How do you use it on the body, is it after showering while the skin is damp? TIA I love your enthusiasm and the way you give alternatives. You are my go-to skincare guru now.

I don’t use it anymore (graduated onto the DDG Alpha beta extra strength pads, which are ace) but I did use the TO red peeling solution (AHA/BHA) for years….I commented on another post just, saying that I have really tough skin and this is a great example…I fell asleep in the peel probably weekly for hours at a time (I have EDS amongst other things and take a lot of meds that cause extreme fatigue, so didn’t mean to). Luckily, I had absolutely no ill effects whatsoever!! No redness even. Im surprised I didn’t burn my skin off 😮….please don’t try this at home! I have very weird tough skin.

I feel like half of this list is just "my skin just isn't resilient to tolerate it" hahah... I use the glycolic acid almost every day in my tretinoin routine (sometimes I forget) and it's given me great results. Mandelic/lactic acid doesn't do anything for me, it's just not strong enough, plus - the dropper bottle format is expensive and a pain to manage.

i use glycolic acid 7% toning solution on my body and i love it, can use it on face as well, twice a day actually with no issues and my skin type is combination/sensitive.. i think that because of different things ive used over the years as in chemicals peels, lasers, etc 7% of glycolic daily is not that big of a deal lol but for those who are not as masochistic with their skin as me should probably avoid it using daily PS the ordinary peeling solution - i dont understand why its considered too potent.. i did everything according to instructions many maaaaaaaaaany times and i see no results

4:31 I was recently watching a podcast from Dr David Sinclair who was explaining that retinol could be used on the scalp against hair loss, and I immediately thought : YES, now I know how to use this Retinol in squalane from The Ordinary, as a hair oil a few times per week. 😂😂😂 8:05 I use to like the Azelaic cream, but the 100 ml costs now 25 euros, it was 20 euros end 2021, 25% price increase, so bye bye, I will not repurchase, there are better alternatives at this price level. 9:05 Totally agree, for me the big fail from TO is the best seller, Niacinamide 10%. 😅 I nearly thought Niacinamide was not for me because of this product, before I tried other brands.

Granactive version is much low and will not cause soon irritatiom as normal retinol. I have sensiitve skin and i think i was using before worng product. I bought 0.2 retinol squalance and i havent obtained irritation after using it ywo times in a week. I decided to use it tow times in a week for two weeks and increase to 3x times and then 4 times within a month. The reaosn I went for 0.2 retinol instead 0.5 is because I was afraid 0.5 might give me soon irritation.

I don’t use any product with Niacinamide, then for me the powder ir a few drops in my moisturizer makes sense. Since i am very sensotive to niacinamide, i want to control how much i use. The glycolic toner i use in my body one every 10 days aprox. The cheapest controlled option for the body. And the 30% peeling solution is sent from heaven. Affordable peeling by a profesional doesn’t compare with the price of the product, it makes no sense that responsable people lack this types of products because negligent ones exist. Directions are there for a reason. It is not dangerous. This negligent people also drive cars and use knifes to cook 🤷🏼‍♀️ as far as i know one day they will be drinking from the bottle of the LAcid.
