My O Bass has replaced my MIM Fender P Bass as my main player. The Fender has an EMG GZR pickup, which I love, and I may eventually put that pickup in the O Bass. For me, it's the neck: the O Bass neck is chunky and shorter than the Fender's. It fits my hand perfectly. Tone wise, the O Bass is definitely a good flavor of that classic P Bass sound. Nice growl with round wounds. This Bass does suffer from neck-dive, but that doesn't bother me. I do prefer the tone of my Fender, but I think that's mostly do to the GZR pickup. The GZR pickup made my Fender more lively in the mids and more responsive to my attack.

I have one. I just got it setup. It's a great bass. A head turner. I put black flats on it. You had too much treble on it also.

Kinda looks like a dookie stick. If I’m gonna be dealing with neckdive that bad, gimme a 90s Japanese fender. Absolutely love my 1990 MIJ fender jazz bass with the graphite neck

I wanted to buy one but I couldn't justify spending that much money on a over seas bass when there are much better options out there for the same amount of money or less.

I've had one over a year now and I love it. A bit of neck dive sure, but it has a good neck and about the best p bass sound ever. One mans opinion.

Agree! The neck is my favorite neck to play

I understand some basses screaming:"need a setup!" at the music stores, but that looks like it hurts. Looks uncomfortable and sounds kind of weak. I could be wrong since it's the first time I actually hear it. Serious neck dive there.

My O Bass has become my main player because of the neck. It's chunky and wide, which I love. With a good setup, and if you like chunky necks, it's not uncomfortable. The O Bass does neck dive, which doesn't bother my playing. My Fender P Bass is better balanced, no doubt. Tone - I've played my O Bass through Hartke amps, Ampeg, and an Ibanez promethean. It's not a weak sounding bass. With round wounds, this bass produces a nice growly midrange. The tone knob is not as useful as is the one that came with my EMG GZR pickup. There's less useful tone as you roll the tone off. You know how you can roll the tone off on a P Bass and there's still a nasality or honk to the mid range? The O Bass seems to go from bright and aggressive to warm and muddy as you roll off the tone. That's my gripe, but I'm going to install a GZR pickup.

Was that with the tone rolled off completely?

😂 I quite like it but when the neck falls to the floor and it's awkwardly positioned on the knee I think it's a no. But isn't the Les Paul very poorly balanced? Hasn't hurt it's popularity.

The O Bass is definitely a neck diver. I play it standing with a descent leather strap, and it dives considerably less than shown in this video. The O Bass suffers from less than optimal balance. I think it boils down to each player's tolerance level. Personally, it's a minor annoyance.

I never say this about instruments but those things are just junk, man. I'll take a Squier P any day. Cheaper and there's a big aftermarket for them

Is this based on experience? Genuinely curious. It's not a junk bass: my O Bass is built better than my Squier VM Jag Bass, Ibanez ATK, Ibanez Soundgears, and Fender MIM P bass. My G&L Tribute is the best built bass I have and the O Bass is on par. The Squier VM Jag is by far the junkiest bass out of the bunch. The electronics on the O Bass are solid. Frett work is smooth with no sharp edges. The binding has been well applied. The bridge is solid. Finish is flawless. I'm sure there are less expensive basses with equal quality to that of the O Bass. Relative my MIM Fender P Bass, the O Bass is a better value in terms of quality. I think the retail price is higher than it needs to be. I bought a demo model from Sweetwater for $300ish. I do like the tone of my MIM P Bass with EMG Geezer pickup better than the O Bass. The low mids are a bit muddy with O Bass. I think a Squier CV, especially used, might surpass the O Bass in terms of quality. Granted, quality can vary from one instrument to the next within the same lineup and year of production. If someone hates neck dive and thick necks, they will despise the O Bass.

Guitar Center is blowing out the all-black fender p-bass with ebony board for $819 right now, that would be a better buy than that orange thing
