The Oral Law is a reaction to the New Testament faith! | Part 2 | Case for Messiah

Join us as we explore how New Testament passages have influenced the selection of readings in synagogues and the transcription of the oral law (Mishnah) by rabbis. We will draw parallels between key figures like Rabbi Akiva and the Apostle Paul, suggesting that rabbinic Judaism emerged in part as a response to Messianic Judaism.

If you haven't spoken to them yet, I pray it goes well for you. Mark 13:11...Trust that The Holy Spirit will speak for you. Not that you will be on trial, but you will be given the words to speak. Mark 13:11 [11] And when they bring you to trial and deliver you over, do not be anxious beforehand what you are to say, but say whatever is given you in that hour, for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit.

@@BigDan21. human sacrifice is demonic. He was the replacement of Anubis, the Egyptian god of death born from adultery, who carried the Egyptian cross the ankh. Also, the Greeks were persecuting the Jews for years before Jesus was even born. But then God gave the new testament to them in koine Greek? Ya right😂😂😂 the Greeks had every intention to undermine the Jewish scriptures. Jesus was a fraud. Crucifixion is not a kosher way of sacrificing and is not listed in leviticus as an acceptable thing. Only kosher animal sacrifices

“72” sounds diabolically similar to Islam. And what is known after Babylon is that priests from Babylon had infiltrating pagans into the priesthood. Caiaphas was not the High Priest, John the Baptist was High Priest.

@@01marcelopaulo Not true - many are making teshuva and turning back to G-d. The G-d of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob will complete the good work He has begun. Despite your negativity, His plans are for good not for evil. The Scriptures reveal His Son, Yeshua (Salvation), who is Messiah, not only of The Jews, but all the nations who repent of their unrighteous ways and turn back to G-d.

This is absolutely true. Before the second temple was destroyed jewish people were pondering how to understand the TWO POWERS IN HEAVEN. That was evident to them in scripture. Read a jewish scholar Alan Segal's book 'Two Powers In Heaven'. Rabbinical Judaism had to come up with the Oral Law to undermine Christianity because it naturally follows on from the Old Testament. There are no two powers. Same God three persons. Two powers is is blasphemy and oral nonsense in this context. An “oral law” was given at the same time as the written laws because they are the same. The problem with the Middle East is consistent backsliding into mysticism.

@abashedsanctimony154 you miss the point entirely. Rabbinical Judaism is a monotheistic religion that denies the Tri-Unity God of Christianity. The point is that to a second temple jew there is more than enough scriptural evidence of a second power recorded in the scrolls. Therefore. They would not have a problem with the Shema. And! even more to the point they would not have a problem with accepting Jesus Christ as God. Shalom.

Shalom@@RicardoFranco-um5qw , Yes, and yes. Ephraim of prophecies, as it relates to the restoration of Israel, is most likely the church. It seems that the Holy Spirit is calling for believers to become Torah observant. For many, it happens in stages as tradition is hard to discard, either in dietary restrictions, or by keeping the Sabbath. The purpose of tzitzits is to set us apart, which in today's climate may open one to persecution. Messianics usually incorporate a blue thread in their tzitzits, per the command, whereas Judaism tends towards all white. Many Christians are finding that the old Testament is new, and alive with profound insights into the human condition, and in our relationship with G-d. If you believe that Yeshua Hamashiach is Immanuel, Isaiah 59:16-17, then it was He that gave the Torah to Moshe Rabbeinu. Yeshua said, "If you love me, you will keep my commandments." Pesach, "Passover," is coming up, and a very good place to start. Hashem's pattern for redemption is clearly seen, and Yeshua as the Passover Lamb becomes alive with profound significance, all hidden in plain sight. Pay attention to the order of the cups as they follow Hashem's set pattern, Sanctification, Judgement, Redemption, then Acceptance (as in a bride). Replacement theology is coming to an end, as there is only one body of belivers, past, present and future. Iyyov, "Job," the oldest of all Scripture states, "For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been thus destroyed, yet in my flesh I shall see God, whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another. My heart faints within me!" (Job19:25-27). Hearing all of this (again) really saddens me. Because Judaism has hidden Yeshua from its own people, they (the Jews) have suffered all kinds of persecution for centuries- FOR denying Messiah! AND…. In the same way, Christian pastors have hidden the Law and God’s Name from believers. That has kept millions from following the Torah because they didn’t know any better! So how does judgment work? Millions of Jews might have followed Yeshua and millions of Christians might have faithfully kept the Torah. It’s something to consider. No doubt Yehovah has planned for all of this in His infinite mercy.

Love it! 26 years ago my wife and I made a chart of which verses are included and left out of the haftarah. I have believe for a long time as well that a good part of rabbinic Judaism is a reaction to the threat of the NT and early Messianic community. You touched on Rashi. Will you do more? Isaiah 53 is just the tip of the iceberg. Shalom, Chag Sameach!

I can't remember if it was in their video on Isaiah 53 or in the Messiah son of Joseph series or even possibly another video but they went heavily into it and how rabbinic Jews bend themselves around certain prophetic scriptures like Isaiah 52 and 53. They even showed a bunch from other books that they avoid. I'm sorry I can't remember exactly what video it was from as I have been binge watching and I didn't put the name of the video in my notes.

Very interesting. Clears up question I have about the oral traditions. It would have been good if you listed the books above that you quoted. I always like to check out the context of quotes given, not only from you, but any time a quote is given in books or video.

Ancient Israel is the prophetic prefiguration of the Catholic Church. As long as Jews remain opposed to the Church, they're breaking their covenant with God. When Israel finally joins the Church, their covenant with God will be restored. It's up to them. God called them stiff-necked for a reason! From this perspective the replacement theology is correct, though it's not that Jews have been replaced, they removed themselves. Israel is the Prodigal Son, and the Church is the older brother...

According to Orthodox Judaism, revelation at Mount Sinai included both the written and the oral Torah. The Oral Torah is the basis for the Mishna and Talmud.

@stephenfisher3721 no wonder that Jesus Christ exposed them in breaking the law. "Honor your father and mother." But judaism said, " it is enough to say ; , it's my offering to God , everything that could be used to help you." Then you wouldn't have to honor your parents What a disgrace.

Malachi 4:6 - He will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children and the hearts of the children to the fathers… ( It occurs to me that this is a prophecy, directed at the reconciliation, through Christ, between Israel and the Gentile Church, for surely Israel are our spiritual parents, just as we, the Gentile Church, are their spiritual children. “Honour thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be long upon the land that YHVH your Lord is giving you”. How else could ever be at peace in His Eternal Kingdom?)

What matters is not who is right but humility to become one. Can we be just humble to learn from Jews just at least once? If we Christians truly be humble to respect the Rabbinic Judaism and learn from them (whether what the Rabbinic Literatures are their response to NT or recording/redaction of what was orally transmitted from Moshe) to hasten the day of HaMashiach altogether as one, that humble yet passionate attitude will provoke jealousy of the observant Jews and help them open their heart to see the authentic Jewish Messiah Yeshua!

Thank you for your ministry. As a Christian (trying to learn our Hebrew roots and try to walk in obedience to honor God) I have so many questions on the Oral Law (understanding it). I would appreciate your perspective on how to reconcile Yeshua's constant rebuking/correction of the religious leaders of His time. Was that rebuking/correction in any way because of the Jewish Leaders adherence to the Oral Law over the Torah or is it not at all that? I would appreciate more teachings on this subject.

This knowledge is life-changing. A new reality is dawning. Because now we see that modern Judaism is a responsive deflection from Messianic Judaism (which was probably prominent after the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD). The question now is how did Messianic Judaism fall behind both the modern gentile version of Christianity and the modern rabbinic (oral law) version of Judaism? And how do we reconcile Messianic Judaism between them?

  • @lheggestad

    @lheggestad

I'm confident that Messianic Judaism was more prominent after the destruction of Jerusalem because the followers of Yeshua would have heeded His warning and escaped. Josephus recorded that more than a million Jews died and a hundred thousand were taken captive.

Amazing. I really appreciate this series of lectures. As a Gentile Christian I know very little about the Jewish belief system, only what I have gleaned from the Old Testament or Torah. Maybe I am wrong, but it seems to me that the Oral Law, written in 300-400AD is almost a “oops, we were wrong”. That saddens me if it is true, but the prophecy said Jesus would be rejected by the Jews. I see the prophecy being fulfilled almost daily. Thank you, God Bless and Shalom.
