The Opioid Crisis And The Family Behind It
Ойын-сауық
The Opioid Crisis has devastated America as millions now deal with addiction to opioids, leading to miserable withdrawals, and hundreds of thousands of overdoses. One of the primary profiteers was the Sackler Family who misrepresented the risks associated with their flagship opioid, OxyContin. The Sacklers in turn raked in billions as hundreds of thousands died from an opioid overdose, yet proclaim zero responsibility. This is a multifaceted public health tragedy and one worth exploring and analyzing.

I was in college almost 20 years ago now, and in neuroscience they told us if you put a patient on opiods for more than 2 weeks you are doing more harm than help.
Whoever wrote the script for this video needs a raise. Great video overall. Subscribed.

Thank you for the kind words. Hopefully if this video continues to do well and pull numbers/subs I can get monetization. We'll see.
Well written and executed video, very informative and nicely paced, with some funny edits thrown in. Easy sub, excited to see more from this channel.
Great breakdown man. This is something more people need to know about and you did a great job explaining it.

Awesome video bro, 👍 hope to see your channel grow
some doctors i've watched on YT mentioned this, talking how some people don't even care, what ails them, and just demand opioids right away. One even joked about a scene in some movie, that if he could, he would prescribe adult media to reduce abuse of opioids.

Concerning and disappointing, yet somewhat unsurprising. I feel it's more a symptom of a larger issue however, that being the proliferation of prescription opioids and false marketing regarding their risks.

But it's the lack of opioids that ail them ;-)
Great video thank you for shining light on this horrific crime and greed. Subbed.

Great video, but can you keep the side comment texts on the screen a little longer. I often couldn’t even hit pause fast enough.

Fair. Which sections/text cuts were too short in this video if I may ask? I used to have even shorter text flashes and have been trying to extend them a bit, but if they're still too rapid I'd like to know where I can improve.
Good presentation overall. I would recommend not flashing text onscreen too rapidly, or showing too much text while you are speaking.
Good content, keep up the good work!
for real though, does any one know where i can cop that oxcontin bucket hat?

cool vid
I really enjoyed the video but one thing that irked me was the millisecond you gave to be able the read the sources you were putting up. I wanted to read them but couldn't..

Yeah, sorry about that, I'll most likely be reducing my usage of such cuts as this has become a common complaint.

@@CiggySnake Good deal. Great video. I know what you was going for. You was shooting a lot of info out to keep the story going. If you want to keep that and it's fine if you want to then link sources in the description so people can go back and see for themselves. You don't necessarily have to change what you do.

9:52 this graph doesn't make sense to me. What do the percentages represent? Why the different color coding?
@CiggySnake
2 жыл бұрын
This is from a public opinion poll specifically looking at how Americans at large view the opioid crisis, it's causes, how they are affected by it, etc. In this graph it's looking at who people think is to blame for the opioid crisis, and the most blamed members of society are highlighted. Why they went with a different color scheme between the different percentages I do not know.

@@CiggySnake Got it, so it was a multiple answers allowed type of survey. Makes a lot more sense now.
The doctors are the ones actually giving it to the patients. They are just as greedy and to blame.

What is the specific issue in my mixing and how could I improve upon it? Genuine question.
I am of the belief that the person doing the drug share some of the blame too...
@CiggySnake
2 жыл бұрын
If there's any blame to be had it's for making the first poor decision of taking hard opiates. However, given that a modest number of people got hooked on opioid medication after being misled by experts/doctors, I am hesitant to assign heavy blame or condemnation on them for getting hooked.
The anonymous share holders and their banks are equally to blame! Corporations must answer to their insatiable need for growth at the cost of morality and oversight.

Worth noting in the case of Purdue it was 100% owned by the Sackler family, but your point still stands.
