I respectfully disagree. We get the hint from the professor's instant relaxed demeanor that Will is a bigger fish than what that pond of a dungeon floor could offer. Bell vs. minotaur gave off an energy of equally matched foes fighting for their right in a world of strength. Will is downright every-bit stronger than the minotaur he fault in that scene-- absolutely disrespecting it by killing it with its own weapon

Same author as Danmachi? Now it makes even more sense why I had that weird dejavu. Have not read the novel yet soooo, I will enjoy as it is airing and might check the novel later down the line.

First episode was great. The plot seems similar ro Black Clover or Mashle, but it's much more dark and serious right from the get-go with a great animation budget to match.

honestly i disagree with the animation budget they should have gotten a bit more. it seems interesting im gonna watch it but they use the same sound clip of him grunting for every hit and the animation itself is a little bit low quality. fingers crossed for the plot tho seems like a nice little story

@@Seibahhlike as long as the execution is good and the plot line is entertaining, I’m watching it, doesn’t matter if the base foundation of “I am a character who can’t use (insert worlds foundational power system) but I use (abnormal power that belongs to me that I have to learn myself) and I have a goal to become the top of (highest position within the rankings of foundational power system)” It’s still good

First episode was phenomenal, and the animation is absolutely beautiful. Extremely excited to see more.

Yoshihara is the director of the series he was also the director of Black Clover upto ep 153

He took the same stance as Guts did in his first battle with Zodd, when he "gambled his life on a single strike." Pretty nice way to end out the battle.

​@tornav7789 The entire first episode has this same animation quality. It's nuts. Also yes, gotta love the Berserk reference very coyly inserted into the fight itself. Omori's other series Danmachi has also had hidden Dark Souls references (and in later seasons and stories some very dark Berserk-like moments) too, like Havel's Armor in the background of an armor shop. I'm glad a studio picked this series up that could finally do justice to Omori's writing. They even let him keep a normal name. 🤣

@@sifthead7720 Megumi always called Toji and Maki's abilities a technique (presumably a curse technique). It seems clear that they in fact turn their cursed energy into physical ability that explains how they have so little cursed energy and when they refine their abilities the have even less. So Toji was as much a jujutsu sorcerer as the society that discounted his powers as not being a curse technique because of arbitrary prejudice but the society of sorcerers was often shown to be small minded and prejudiced so that makes sense. Or at least that was my read on the theme of the story there.

@@allanolley4874 No, dude. It's not a Technique. It's a Heavenly Restriction. Heavenly Restrictions are basically just Binding Vows that you're born with and can't get rid of except through specific means (such as Mahito altering Mechamaru's body into a normal one) and you lose the benefits in doing so (Mechamaru stopped producing massive amounts of Cursed Energy and had to use what he had stockpiled). They lost their ability to use Cursed Energy and Cursed Techniques that they would have otherwise naturally possessed as members of the Zen'in clan, but in exchange gained immense physical prowess.

I swear im already falling in love with the anime it has such good animations, cool character designs, great music , awesome voice actors and incredible battles, this is one of the anime that ive been waiting for to be created

When you realize that the same guy who composed the My Hero Academia OST is also the same guy who composed the Wistoria Wand and Sword OST.

Guts: "My Man."

I'm a sucker for these types of shows, in a world with special people doing all kind of crazy flashy stuff and you have a character who trained and can use only their "Skills" to win, I love these type of stories when done right.

This 1v1 is awfully similar to the first fight of Bell Cranel against the Minotaur "Asterius" in DanMachi. I have no problem with this though. UPDATE: The author of DanMachi and Wistoria is the same person "Fujino Omori."

This literally like black clover, Mashle, and Harry Potter combined. I’m all for it.

dont think it's in this video, but the way the professor(or counselor?) was showing the orb that transitions into watching Will as starts to fight was so well done, the transitioning in this show feels so cinematic.

This evil sentinel fight surprised me, the animation goes hard in this anime! Hopefully it continues all the way through and it could be one of the better animes this year

As a fan of both Danmachi and Black Clover, I think I’m going to love this show very much.

Will's magic is just pure, unadulterated violence

One of the best fight screens to introduce a character in years so detailed..

If there's a Will, there's a way, even without magic.

Badass protagonist who can't do magic in a world populated by witches and wizards is one of my favorite anime genres alongside isekai. Essentially "I don't need magic when throwing hands is much more effective!"

no, but *spoilers* Will will eventually find out that he has an ability called Wis which allows him to absorb spells and load them into his sword. So he will later find out he can use magic spells if he loads them into weapons

Bell want to become stronger to get to Ains-San level and stay by her side. “Will” want to become stronger to reach the girl (don’t remember the name) title so he can watch the sky as closest as possible with the girl. Tell me where is the similarity with black clover story?

It's because of My Deer Friend, and the use of AI subtitles, which explains why the subtitles were so weird. There's an entire explainion about it, but it's Crunchyroll fault and using AI.

Will, Asta, Mash. Sometimes i think about a setting in which mages are facing true picture of the world, and they can't do anything against horrors and wonders of it, so those who were mistreated for inability to magic showed what they can do with their own strength.

He just gets cooler the further the story goes. But the world is on straight Mashle-levels of BS when it comes to being against the main character for “not having magic”, so it gets occasionally frustrating to watch/read. Good series though.
