The ONLY Time GLASS BENDING Was Ever Used in Avatar

Ойын-сауық

As time moves on more and more unique and complicated bending technieus continued to be discovered. From the likes of healing to blood bending, all the way to metal bending, lightning and lava bending. But now we finally have confirmed in Canon the one earthbending technique that so many of us have speculated about for years. Glassbending has finally entered Canon, and it’s absoutely terrifying. So hit that subscribe button for more awesome Avatar Content, and lets get into it!
#avatarthelastairbender #thelegendofkorra #kyoshi
So in the pretty recent Rise of Kyoshi novel, we get a really cool scene where Kyoshi is tracking down a criminal group known as the “Triad of the Golden Wing”, which was a group of Daofei Outlaws. These guys are basically like the Mafia. They have a strict code and if that code is broken, you are no longer part of the family. Kyoshi actually considered herself part of this culture for some time before she transitioned into her role as the avatar.
Either way, on one gloomy day, a group of Golden Wing outlaw members are tasked with watching the headquarter of their gang, as their leader believes that there is going to be a hit on the base in the next few hours.
During the stake out of the headquarters, one of the members named Po is watching the nearby stairs very nervously. Suddenly there is a huge crash on the floor above them and Po looks worryingly up, waiting for the intruders to come down to him…
At that moment his fellow gang member named Throatcutter Gong (great name) gets tossed down the stairs, with his legs tied up and his wrists bent the wrong way… At this point, Po is absolutely terrified, and then out of nowhere a huge pair of gloved arms burst through the brick wall in front of him, and they instantly wrap around Po’s neck. These are the arms of Avatar Kyoshi. What happened upstairs was that Throatcutter Gong tried to tie up Kyoshi with a shattered glass garrote, which is a device used to strangle and choke people… HE actually managed to get the garrote around her neck, but she eventually overpowered him so badly that she reversed the situation and tied him up, before throwing him down the stairs for Po to see.

Actually glass and crystals are fairly different in their structure. Quartz and glass may be identical chemically but crystalline quartz has a regular repeating pattern to its molecules, whereas the molecules in glass are more or less randomly arranged. I'm not really sure what the implications of that would be for bending, but perhaps for some reason bending crystalline substances is easier? Ice, metals, and most minerals found in rock are crystalline.

I vote that glass bending would not be flexible like metal bending, simply because glass has very poor ductility or malleability. Consider Consider that we don't see anyone flexing stone or ice. Ice bending can appear supple but that is more a matter of the ice growing in a particular direction. Similarly, we see people bending PIECES of stone in relation to each other and their bodies, but not "bending" the mineral. Consider the Dai Li's gauntlets.

  • @tinydragon2013

@@grimlock1471 But you could heat the glass up which leads to the brittle to ductile transformation of glass. Since lava bending is introduced, it should be not a problem (at least for the avatar or "halfbloods" like bolin). Furthermore, metal bending shouldn't be as ductile as shown in LOK because metal benders bend not the metals itself but the impurities in the metal. In glass however this would be not the case and a change in viscosity should work similar to Ice and water bending.

The hard point of beding Earth, is focus in microparticles of mineral on earth. Because they usually bending only dense forms of minerals and rocks. That is because not every Earth bender knows how to bending Metal and Sand. They are pretty hard tecniques thats demands a lot of train and concentration. But bend Metal and bend sand has similar concepts, the only difference between they, is that to bend Metal require more stregth than to bend Sand. (So i never understand why they never showed Toph, who has the Natural Ability to sense particules, bending Sand too). In case of Glass, i dont know if works with the same concept because Glass is just melted sand, so categorically anyone who knows to bend sand should know how to bend glass too. But i imagine that the Glass Bender require even more tecnique than the Sand Bender (Or Natural Talent, like Toph with Metal).

I mean it's a form of sand bending which is earth bending and has air bending to shape and put the glass under extreme pressures. kinda opens the idea that gems and jewelry's could be used by earth benders as weapons, in our universe diamond is used to drill the earths crust why not a gold arm brace with a diamond that would be bent into a blade?

Cloud Bending and Smoke Bending is already a thing, it’s just a derivative of Air Bending. Plant Bending, Crystal Bending and Blood Bending are all possible styles. The only thing not possible on this list is Shadow Bending.

New sub-style of bending proposed for either Air or Earth benders: Shadow Bending - Using the shadows of the earth as a weapon. For a unique example - Look up “Salem Bradley aka Pride” from Fullmetal Alchemist.

@@archforrier1097 I see what you mean and at the same time am confused. Blood & metal are probably more easily considered sub bending because they involving the element in the presence of a greater mixture, sub means under so it’s bending the water “under” the blood and bending the earth “under”the metal Lighting bending is badass but is literally pure technique much like healing Perhaps flight is them bending the air inside their bodies whereas ang would bend atmospheric air around the glider or into the rolling sphere And because Flight was introduced in a dungeon by an enemy of the only air temple w the knowledge to describe the phenomena, it’s not stated in canob
