When I come to Tripunithura during holidays... it is heartbreaking to see the old palaces being destroyed. Tripunithura is known for its heritage beauty. It is sad that local government did not any effort to preserve it. In the place of old palaces stand new apartments. I haven't got an opportunity to see the inside of any palaces. What the minister stays is absurd. I hope the few remaining palaces near Kalikotta will stay for long. The palaces from Kalikotta to old Kamalalayam is destroyed I think. It really pains. Thank you for the documentary.

വർഷങ്ങൾക്ക് മുമ്പുള്ള നീണ്ട അഞ്ച് വർഷങ്ങൾ....എന്നെ ഇന്നത്തെ ഞാനാക്കിയ കലാലയം....ഇന്ന് ദുബായിൽ ഇരുന്ന് ഇത് കാണുമ്പോൾ ഒരേ സമയം അഭിമാനവും സങ്കടവും തോന്നുന്നു.

ഇതൊക്കെ കാണുമ്പോൾ സങ്കടം തോന്നും. സംരക്ഷിക്കണം എന്ന് ആത്മാർത്ഥമായി വിചാരിച്ചാൽ സർക്കാരിന് സാധിക്കുമായിരുന്നു.

We should learn from the erstwhile Maharaja of Jodhpur,Rajasthan,who inspired other erstwhile rulers of India to convert their former palaces into heritage hotels which are being preserved & at the same time FLOURISHING now.

Nice to know a few more about Tripunithura, my place of birth, 63 years ago having derived this name Gopalakrishnan from the lovely temple there. I have heard a lot about this from my parents and family members. Always proud to being a member of the family (grandson) of the Palace Doctor, (Late) N P Venkiteswara Iyer who lived in the House No: 1 near vadkkekotta.

Thank you Lijumol.. our childhood revolves around this building - our home is Palace No. 42, just next door neighbors! Used to play cricket in its courtyard during holidays - our cousins even got married in its Durbar Hall, that was the majesty of this building! ..with all those chandeliers and brass railings.. not to forget the Italian marble flooring! The most funny part was the remark by the erstwhile minister.. that individual ownership prevents renovation!! Who owns Puthen Bunglow then?!!! The Government betrayed not only the erstwhile Royal Family, the whole Kerala by not preserving this treasure.. no wonder they destroyed unique Swarnnakkolam and Swarnnathalekkett of Sree Poornathrayeesa Temple.. not to forget the gigantic Oottupura.. the list goes on!! (also please edit the name to "Nandakumaran Thampuran" at timeline 2:51 minutes)

The one used now is the new Thalekket and kOlam of very very ordinary design.. ChoorappuLi and kamizhthippoo.. You can see that design in every temple or church procession. What have been destroyed are the centuries old one and only Padmam Thalekket and malaththippoo kOlam.. Please don't be ignorant.. Read more.. Research more.. You'll find what all precious articles have been vanished from Tripunithura!

It requires lot of money. one way is to construct heritage hotel by leasing it to interested private player.

Its very sad to see this as a person who grew up in thripunithura, it disheartning to see as each year passes such beautiful palaces and structures are removed and new highrise buildings are coming up.... an losing heritage beauty and old charm...

In many western countries in new developing areas, any building older than about 50 years is considered as HERITAGE BUILDING, AND no construction and development can buy demolish etc.Givt will negotiate with the owners and take o er the property for preservation, and only area.out side the heritage property will be constructed by modern designs which dies not spoil the look of the Heritage property. In India, due to hatred towards the so called rich owners,like tiny kingdoms was made a political issue. Instead of supporting maintanance, the local.kincipalities calculated constructed area by adding even the cow sheds, eith no cows, or.setcant quarters w Eith no occupants, every inch of concrete floor , so owners simply demolished.such old buildings. Many such buildings have been looted by every politician and removed everything including paved or clad tiles,old wooden pillars.

It is really sad to see. It should have been restored. It represents our culture and heritage

Nice but painful video. It is unfortunate that the state government and archeological department inspite of getting 7 crore for renovation of such historic monuments did nothing to preserve it. Govt should be pressurised to renovate what is left. Our corrupt politicians & beaurocracy is the root cause for many problems.

Good initiative chechi. It's sad but true! Tragic ending of a beautiful monument. Continue like these efforts. May eyes of Archeological department open. May Archeological department along with people like Santosh George kulangara can try to preserve our heritage monuments.... Chechi do a vedio on Kodungallur kovilakam too

I stay close by, am a regular at the temple but never knew the history behind it. wish could do something for such eroding memorabilia of ours. Quoting from Niranjana Varma, it should start from any one of us. oru vyakthiyil ninnu thudanganam. Great effort from her, to preserve whatever she can in whichever way she can. Is it possible for a laywoman to enter the place and have a look around Lijumol?
