The ONLY Private Island in SF Bay now up for sale!

Ойын-сауық

Red Rock Island, San Francisco Bay's only private island is now for sale for $25,000,000. Will @mrbeast, Mark Zuckerberg, or Elon Musk buy it? What can be built on the island? We're exploring that today. Listed for the first time on the MLS by Chris Lim with Christie's International Real Estate, this 5.8 acre private island has caused quite a splash, with articles written by the New York Times, NPR, the Wall Street Journal in the last few weeks. While on a property tour trip in San Francisco, we had a chance to tour it and jumped at the opportunity.
A few facts about Red Rock Island:
Red Rock Island is situated in the San Francisco Bay and has views of the Richmond Bridge, Belvedere Island, and downtown San Francisco. It gets it's signature red color from the manganese on the island, which was mined in the 1860s and shipped to Europe to be used as paint pigment.
The island was home to a resident in the 1800s: Selim Woodworth who built a cabin and lived on Red Rock Island. He tried to claim title to the island via the Homestead Act, but the government refused his claim because they thought the island may be needed at some point for defensive purposes.
Red Rock Island is 500 feet across from east to west, 750 feet from north to south, and rises to a height of 151 feet. It's surrounded by some of the deepest water in the North bay (nearly 60 feet deep).
Red Rock Island is privately held and not available for tours, so we are happy that we had the opportunity to tour it and share this special island with all of you.

It’s a rocky hill island with virtually no flat land. How on Earth is it valued at 25 million!? 🤯

There aren't too many comps for something like this, so it's really worth whatever someone will pay. We'll have to see. It's the only privately held island in the SF Bay. One thing that is really interesting about RRI is how it's visible from most places in San Francisco. We have an upcoming video of a condo in a SF high rise and I could clearly see it from the balcony. I could see it being held simply as a trophy asset. As far as the geography, I believe previous construction plans for the island called for leveling the area that was to be built on.

I've seen around Red Rock many times when I was in the sea scouts and it is the most brutal White Cap riptides and constant wins that are not forgiving. The in which that video was produced ,was maybe one of a handful of days like that out of the year. That's a realtor for you:)

In this case you might be attributing to preparation & planning what can be attributed simply to luck! We had great weather, and hired a captain to take us out there. Our trip to SF was only a few days and we simply managed to squeeze in RRI. I'm glad he also brought us back safely, now that I hear about these white cap riptides! It's always fun to hear that these videos are reaching people with connections to the area. I hope our presentation did the island justice. Thanks for watching and letting us know about your experience there.

I could be a multi-billionaire and would not have an extra $25M for that bit of junk.

I would love to live on that wee Island and happily feed the sharks to swim around it to keep the taxman at bay.

Hahaha -- I love this ScratchyBaws. The water around Red Rock Island is some of the deepest in the SF Bay, so plenty of places for sharks to hide out.

On a calm day, yes- but someone was talking about rip tides so I’d watch out! It’s more rocky than sandy, but in lower tide there is more beach than you saw in the video. We were seeing the island mid tide here

The BIGGEST utter lie is "just around this corner we can see the Golden Gate Bridge." If by "Just around this corner" we allow "take a boat three and half miles and swing around this corner of Bluff Point at Tiburon", then yeah. "Just around this corner." But no, we can't allow that. He's walking along the beach and says "just around this corner" and switches to a view from a boat in the middle of a channel between two entirely other pieces of land. Shame on you.
