i always feel safe watching your vlogs because you're always respectful not to spoil the plot and only gives out what's necessary. thank you for that 🫡
i am one of the riley fans that looved all of his books so for me he have always been here :)
Absolutely love the way you did this video…this is one of my most anticipated books…can’t wait to get my hands on it!
The way you described the end of this book is exactly how I felt about The House Across the Lake 😆

Very true haha
Glad to hear it was exciting! I was thinking of giving up on Sager's books after "Survive the Night", but perhaps I'll pick this one up. Also, I *love* the cover of the book. It's giving me 70s-80s vibes. I feel like the covers for horror/thrillers recently have been particularly cool looking.
I'm SO excited for this book, and thank you for sharing your reading vlog! I've enjoyed all of his books myself, but definitely Lock Every Door is my favourite so if this is even half that (!!!)
Thanks for the review Ashley! I’m so excited for the release now 😊😊❤
I’m so jealous you got to read this early! This is my most anticipated book of the year!
The Penultimate Update got me soooo excited especially when you said this is the book for the Home Before Dark girlies and Lock Every Door girlies because that’s ME!!!!!!!!!!
Love the way this vlog was put together!

thank you!
Excited for this for summer!
I’ve read Lock Every Door on your suggestion when I was apartment/cat sitting in New York and I thought it was a fun book. I didn’t see the final twist coming. Despite the ridiculous ending I think I’m going to read this one as well. 😅
Omg ahhhh this vlog has me even more excited but also nervous to read this one haha 🤯😍🫠

Go in for a silly goofy time and you’ll have fun!!
i’m a home before dark girlie!!! can’t wait to read it
I've got 60 pages left...so I'm half excited and half worried about what's to come!! 🤣
Dang. It's weird. I loved Lock Every Door but loathed Home Before Dark lol. What do I doooooo? Lol. 😂
I didn't see this video but the Davis came out and I read it it definitely gave me Cold Case vibes and verity vibes! And I saw a q&A before I read this book and one of the people ask if verity was one of the books that he got inspiration from and he said he's never read verity so that's pretty cool that have the same similar thought process going into a book
I waited to hear your thoughts until after I did my review. I'm sorry the ending didn't work for you, Ashley! I loved it! I'm surprised it worked for me but it did. This is my favorite of all of his books now. Hope his next one is as good or better. 😊

Interestingggg, I can’t wait to read it myself!
I'm glad that you at least have not hated or even disliked this book after so many duds that you have read recently! 😁😄

Right?! That’s what I call a win 😂
Sager through everything into the ending but the book was fun❤
I'm kinda the same way with Riley Sager books...I excitedly anticipate them, I enjoy the experience of reading them in the present moment, but in retrospect I'm usually really frustrated afterward. But I'm definitely a Lock Every Door girly--that was one of my favorites--so hopefully Netgalley will come through for me!

I had to come back and report that I did not actually even request this from Netgalley like I thought I had. Le whoopsie! I have now, so fingers crossed...

I had to come back again and say HOLY CRAP NETGALLEY ACTUALLY GRANTED MY REQUEST FOR THIS ONE
I had a very similar thoughts on this one. definitely going back to the lock every door/home before dark era, but nowhere near as strong as those and that ending was just way too much. I really wanna see him switch it up and write a male lead character because all his female protagonists have started to be the same thing

I wouldn’t be surprised if he wrote a male protag the same way 😅
Staring this one over the weekend. Have you read The Marriage Act by John Marrs....just finished it and wow...
I had similar feeling to the end . But same on enjoyment. What was with the nurse and maid uniforms 😂 ? Though I must say it made it easy to not confuse characters.

hahahha very true
I’m so excited for this book- I love Riley Sager’s books To be fair I also describe my favourite genre as “shit thrillers”- think domestic thrillers with spouses killing each other and amnesia plots 😆
Am I okay? Every description in your 1 star section made me want to read it immediately 😂

Lmao 😂 I think you’ll have fun if you don’t go in expecting too much
The cover is giving Amityville Horror 🩸
I totally thought i knew and i was so veey wrong.
I'm with you, Sager is mostly miss. I'm not a fan of how he writes female characters, very cookie cutter, and as you said, formulaic. But I'm going to give him one more chance based off your review. 😋 Would love a spoiler version once it's out!
There should have been a scene at the end of the book where the detective comes to Kit's house and tries to apologize for accusing her of her mother's death and ruining her life, only for Kit to slam the door in his face without a word.
Ashley plz recommend me books fast paced amd mind blowing plot twist

@@ashleyslittlelibrary Ah.. was wondering how the cover has color😄.
Maybe it's time for writers to not just be a twistoholic..because it can hurt the story. I'll still buy the book because I love gothic stories...and the cover gives off V.C Andrews vibes (Flowers in the Attic, etc)
I just hated survive the night. The rest I have enjoyed.
I never like Riley Sager's endings so I think I'll skip this one too.
Have never liked a Riley Sager book and I've tried all of them, trying to give him a chance. I don't like the way he writes women, it feels insulting to me. He writes women as stupid creatures. I've felt that since the first book.

Yeahhhh I don’t love it either 😅
I feel there are some unanswered questions.... Spoilers*** 1)How the hell did Detective Vick not recognise Lenora or anyone when he worked in the house as a boy? 2)How did Jessie come into so much money to rent an apartment facing the Eiffel Tower? Logically speaking the end was silly, the last twist was not needed. Mary's death was unnecessary and the killer is not justified in having killed her to keep his secret. I thought it would have been better if detective Vick was Ricky...that would have given him a proper motive. Still these thing apart oh my god! what a terrific terrific plot twist over plot twist type thriller. I don't mind less logical endings as long as the twists surprise me. 5 stars.
Seee. Why do his endings suck????
I thought Riley was a woman, lol.
Just got back from the grave of not being able to watch BookTube. 🥲 Still reading though, but… I haven’t read a Sager book. I hated Verity. I don’t like when endings went haywire and not connected to the 80% hints of the book. Endings doesn’t have to be mind-blowing, they simply have to make sense and tie the bow, I even love it if there’s unresolved part - as long as it fits. Am I gonna read that? Maybe? If I like Home Before Dark which is in my TBR this next 2 months 😂.
