It was just a logical continuation from fingering the guard to bend it over slightly. Which is not at all an innuendo, if presented in the right context. Schola Gladiatoria memes aside, I think that was for delivering better thrusts.

I do love the design of basket handle swords. Specifically ones that look like a fusion of longswords, rapiers. They're really impractically IRL but they're so aesthetic.

A properly balanced rapier with a basket hilt is actually very practical and quick in the hand. Crap for deep cuts, but soooo stable in the thrust and very quick and mobile. Virtually all the weight is concentrated at the grip. Can’t comment on a more traditional long sword version, as I’ve not tried one yet.

It's good you mentioned that it depends on the LARP you are attending because the game I go to isn't going to be allowing Mitryl brand weapons next season because their handles and pommels are too hard. Some games are gonna have different safety requirements, and it's always good to check out what they allow before dropping a couple hundred bucks on an objectively beautiful piece you can't play with.

Hello, as Mitryl CEO i have diificulty reading the reason why your LARP would not accept our products. We have been making LARP gear since 2002 and we live in the same country as Calimacil and Mythicworkshop. We attends the same events and we talk and compare our products. Players also compare products and strangely, players are coming to us because the other 2 brands are too hard. It would be interesting that you elaborate on your comment.

@@himonightbreeze That is a personnal issue, nothing to have with safety. Again i am asking, if a professionnal company that as made more then 20 000 weapons for LARP's in 20 years and NEVER as a insurace request and is insured for any corporal damage ask you.... why would you considerate not accepting our product, your answer would still be not enough padding... When it comes to larps in germany, there are few safety concerns when talking about wyvern because of their realistic looking blades they are also thin which at Times May lead to Cuts if one isn't care full. For Winter that means: you need to massage them to keep them soft. (And still would recommand them(

I can in no way shape or form recommend Mitryl. I ordered some blades diy from them in 2016 I think it was. And that was quite a sad story. I loved the look of their blades, it was a more tapered and slimmer one. The quality was terrible. At first it looked fine and smooth, but as soon as I squished the blade lightly up and down with my hand, hidden air bubbles right underneath the surface began to appear. So the surface pulled inwards on these. Several of the spread out over the blade, and they remained that way. The tips also had cut marks from what looked like a thin hobby knife. If postal service was responsible, pr Mitryl themselves remains unknown, although it seemed like the package was never opened on its way to Denmark 🤷

They might've improved since then. That's 7 or so years of, hopefully, improving their crafting, painting, materials and packaging. If they're still the same currently then that's bad. I'm willing to give old shops second tries because as an artist I know you improve over the years. If a product is bad 2 times I won't look at them again. My art and sewing was terrible in 2016 compared to now.

@@whoahanant that I easily could. But its not about what you do, but how, and the indifference and silence from Mitryls side isn't exactly igniting a spark in that direction 🤷

Hello decaystar, i am gald to read your comment even if it's not the best i read on this post but you know what... comment's like your have made us better. 2016 is quite far but i will take the time to make some light on your situation. First of all, did you know that your products were garanteed? If you were not satisfied whith your purchase that we simply replace if? Anyways, just to make a long story short... Mitryl is not a big enterprise.. it's only 2 LARP lovers that founded a family in 2010. In 2016 ma partner was pregnant of our 3rd child. I do not know if you have any children but having your parner not abble to work and 3 childs in low age makes a father tired. Yes maybe Mitryl should have closed doors for 1 year but it's never good for buisiness. Since 2016 we have... -Developped our own polyurethane foam (Mitryl foam) witch is softer then the other generic brand we used before. -We have a humidity controler witch helps alot in terms of small bubbles. You can never take away bublles from foam... it's like you would buy an aero chocolate bar without bubbles! -We have now a paint room for all our blades. Before the blades were hand painted. Like you can see, we have come a long way, we are still not perfect and we will never be but we take great pride of our products and our clients. That is one reason we do not wish to expand and offer our products in 50 stores. We wish to keep that close relation with our clients.

I would not safety pass the tip of that sword, not enough padding. Not knowing the construction method, I'd also be concerned about the core digging through what little foam there is at the tip. Actual experience may cover the latter concern.

Our tips have a 2 inch flexible core. We can make it longer on demand for any LARP safety but here in Canada and USA 99% of LARP's do not accept any stab attacks as they are dangerous.

Mytril is not as good as you make them seem to be. They often send out item very very very late (Took me a month to get my sword and they sent me the wrong one) And make you pay so they can send you back the correct item. I am not the only one who had this issue, and this lack of professionalism made me stop buying from them.

That is not true. All shipping cost made from an error made by us is 100% assume by us. Second, since october 2023, we have been forming new employe and reduce our delivery time from 6 weeks to 4 weeks. All order in the past 6 months have never been late... always in advance. I think you are trying to put a bad image on our small company.

@@mitryl You made a mistake on my order and made me pay 15$ extra in order for you to ship the correct item to my home. You also told me that since you already paid for me to ship you back the wrong item, I have to entirely cover the shipping cost for you to send me back the correct item. I still have the records, you can't say I'm wrong. It was about a year and a half ago though, so what I'm saying is based off my own experience and issues I've seen people having.
