Since the release of the video, Gardena USA have contacted me regarding my video and the part at 3.30 where I explained that my nozzle did not come with a quick connect included. They were very disappointed that my nozzle was missing this piece as all of the nozzles should have this as standard, as the system is designed to be "plug and play". As a former Quality Engineer I am aware that not everything is 100% fool proof all of the time. It is evident from my conversation with Gardena that they pride themselves on the quality of their products and their customer service and that this is a very rare occurrence based on the number of units they sell. I would like to thank Gardena USA again for sending me this product, their very quick and genuine response, and look forward to using this hose reel system and more of their products for many years to come.

Thanks for this video. I just installed it and used it, but couldn’t figure out how I could retract the hose 😂 and also didn’t know it had those accessory holders! Life saver!

Great B-roll! Glad to see you put in some constructive criticism to keep it unbiased.. I didn't think my 1/2 inch retractable hose water pressure would be a big deal, but after a year of having it, it really is a pain. Wish I would've gotten the 5/8ths inch with less hose. Great video Simon!

Thanks man appreciate the kind words. I was a Quality Engineer in a previous life so Quality of a product is important to me as is being unbiased, even if its not purchased with my own money. All companies should encourage constructive criticism, its a learning opportunity that should be used to increase value to the consumer.

Honestly, I really didn't notice any difference in flow rate despite the smaller diameter. And yeah, the 100 foot hose is one of the best features, I can get to every point in my back yard with any issues. Thanks for stopping by Nate

Hey Simon, thanks for the brilliant review, it helped me to made up my mind and went ahead to purchased mine🙂, exactly same model as yours-35 meters of hose length. I got it at 220 E deal and it is on its way home. What worries me is if the hose connector will work with my Karcher K7 water pressure but I believe I can change it in case there is an issue. Agree that it would have been nicer to have handle on top and plastic locking mechanism instead of screw, however will have to live with it. thanks again and stay healthy. Thanks for your informative video. I have purchased the same one and same as you i’m really disappointed with the spray nozzle. I already have another watering wand which i was using with my other hose before it broke down. It’s the HOME GARDENER 36" Watering Wand which i love. I am just wondering if it’s possible to replace the little spray nozzle that comes with Gardena with my old watering wand??!

I use an orbit wand with my Gardena hose reel. You just need to get one of the little black quick connects that is in the nozzle they supply with the unit. If you're not going to use the supplied nozzle maybe you could take that one out? It just needs to have the same thread size as whatever wand you want to use. Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate it. I am working on a 1 year update of my experience with the hose reel. Should be out in the next couple of weeks.

I have been using this version of the Gardena Retractable hose reel for 3 years now and have no complaints with it. This unit replaced a battery operated Gardena model that I had for over 5 years before it died. My current retractable unit has started leaking internally, probably at the internal hose connection. Have to figure out how to access the connection and repair it. Havent found any videos on that yet. If you know of one, please let me know. Other than this leak, no problems to report.

@@UrbanDadLife2024 i was able to remove a round side panel, on the side the feeder hose goes into the unit. I turned the water on but not the sprinkler so it would be under pressure, but didnt see any water leaks. Next I will pull out the hose to its fullest extent and try that test again to see if the hose itself has a leak and not the inner connection. So far its baffling. If you hear anything back from Gardena, I would really appreciate your passing the info on to me. Thanks again for offering to reach out to them, Art

I did look at buying another brand I saw in a big box store a few months ago, but once I started really looking at it I had the feeling It wasn't gonna last too long. Totally different feeling about this Gardena one. It's so well built, and so far I'm loving it. Thanks for stopping by Brett

I also need an extra piece because my spigot is more than 5 ft. Do I have to buy an extension from Gardena or can I get a generic hose extension elsewhere?

You can just use a generic hose and use fittings that connect it to the hose reel leader hose. Thanks for watching.

I purchased a Gardena Hose Reel, I got it 1 use out of it and it failed. There is no real troubleshooting and nothing to fix. I spent a few days trying to contact support, in the end I got my money back. I would not recommend this brand.

@@SaltMinerOU812 I haven't used a Vevor, but I've seen mixed reviews about it. If you're happy with it then that's all that matters right? I still think for the quality and price point the Gardena is excellent value for money. I'm 2 years into using it and have had zero problems and no signs of any issues with the bracket. It's seen 2 winters and I expect it to last many more..thanks for watching
