Depending what you want to say: J'avais 25 ans = I was 25 yo (imparfait) J'ai eu 25 ans = I turned 25 yo (passé composé) For example: Je l'ai rencontré quand j'avais 25 ans = I met him when I was 25 yo (imparfait because I am talking about the year I was 25) En février, j'ai eu 25 ans = In February, I turned 25 yo (passé composé because I only turned 25 once)
