I never laughed so hard watching a film. When the monster uttered "Puttin on da reeetz" I lost it, the tears flowed.

Love how Mel handled this: "I was being ridiculous and I am sorry" with humor I would not be surprised that Mel was relieved the scene was successful
Cant imagine this film without that scene. What a hilarious bit.
This is why Mel is so legendary. He had a vision and would defend it to the end, but also had the humility to allow other people to add to it. A textbook example off putting the art ahead of the ego.
In an interview for DVD extras, Wilder said he thought the scene would be cut and still had no idea why he fought to keep it in.
This was my first 'grown up' movie. Saw it with several friends, and no adult, on my 13th birthday. It was at the old, early days of movies downtown theater. It was also one of the last movies before they closed the balcony section for structural safety reasons. It's always been a favorite of mine.
"Sedagive!!!"
good on mel for apologizing for his behavior and making it up to gene he is such a cool guy
"PUH-IN ON DUH RITZ!!"
I'm stealing that apology, it's brilliant.
Such a kind, and mature man, and such a great Friendship.
“For God’s sake do not humiliate him!!”🤣
I just can’t find this film streaming anywhere.. it is brilliant!
Love the whole movie, but this is my favorite scene! Also this movie started a massive crush on Teri Garr.
John Lennon was best man at Young Frankenstein's wedding. (Actually it was Peter Boyles' wedding, but he played YF.)
Just watched this on my plane trip last week, in fact the older gentleman next to me was telling me how much he loves it.👍
One of my favorite scenes!!
Only a genius like Mel Brooks could come up with such a kind of apology, even in situations like that he is an original.
i ADOREE how he mouths "i love him" at 0:46
That was one of the funniest scenes to me!!!!
And it became one of the most memorable scenes in the entire movie.
I'm glad it made the cut. It's hilarious
Terri Garr is beautiful
Such a good movie. That scene was definitely one of the best parts of it.
I was always confused by that scene 😅
“Sooh-per-dooper”!!!
One of my favorite trivia pieces ever. 💜
My husband hadn't seen this movie, until I showed it to him. Now if we hear the song on the radio, my husband will do it just like Peter Boyle did.
Miss Gene. He was great!
This is me and my Dad's favourite part of the film.
Mel Brooks: Maybe I went too far.
In the audio commentary Mel mentions that they almost cut out the “Walk like this” scene, where Fronkenstien had just met I-gor. Gene also convinced him to leave it in for test screenings, and everyone loved it. So that too, stayed. Mel is a great man. Humble, in stature and personality, considering how successful he was
Peter Boyle really stole the show with his portrayal of the monster.
Thank you, Gene, for sticking to your guns! This is the funniest scene in the movie!
Wonder why Brooks didn't like the idea. Likely never questioned Gene again or since.

In Mel Brooks's autobiography he says he was worried it takes the movie too far away from parodying a classic horror film. Almost all the scenes except this one have shots that are recognizable homages; this is kind of a detour away from that. But a hilarious one.
IMO Young Frankenstein is of the top two movies ever filmed in black and white. The other? Sunset Boulevard.
That was one of the best parts! 😉😅😂🤣
The funniest scene in any film ...perfect 😅😅
An iconic scene to be sure
Most iconic scene ever
Should let ai do mugen combos and pretend
Not including this would have been such a directorial mistake. Just imagine this film being deprived of such a hilarious scene. It would have been a crime.
Wow Mel with a very big man to admit how he acted and make fun of it at the same time
Teri Garr was absolutely beautiful in those days.
Best scene ever
I love puttin on the ritz
What a terrific story! It's such a fun movie!
Yeah Mel Brooks wanted it in the movie but Gene Wilder wasn't keen. Thankfully it was included.
Terry is so pretty
gene is amazing.
The only way that sceen would have been funnier is if the creature would have done the song with perfect diction just that one time and never again.
I'm 46, I was in 5th grade when I saw the movie...it got funnier as I got older!! 🤣

I read that as Putin on the raz
Wilder was right, it was the best part of the film!! Peter Boyle played it perfectly.
Such a great movie!
I watched the actual interview with Gene Wilder about this scene. His description was nowhere near your explanation.

What was his description?
It worked great😂
👍👏
What’s the source for this statement in the video? I’ve seen numerous of interviews with both Mel and Gene. This is not how it was according to them!
BTW, it’s hilarious.
Best scene in the movie. Makes no sense, and don't care. BOodDiNonnahRIIzZz!
Funny show
Did Mel Brooks call himself dangerous indirectly?
That was one of the dumbest screens in the movie. The greatest sceen was when wilder says" wow what greaT knockers and the girl looks at her chest and says why thankyou

Ok, "little jeff from the internet"
Meh
Brooks was right. That scene sucks
I laughed my ass off at that scene...
