You can also make healing salves (just melt down in a double boiler some beeswax and herbal infused oil), perfume bars, and candles I think. That’s all I can think of at the moment besides the lotion bars, but there’s loads of lists on Pinterest for what to do with it.

My daughter (19) suffers from acne and the blemishes take so long to disappear. The dermatologist regimen doesn’t really work and I think the products are too harsh for her skin. I know it bothers her and I would like to try a more natural approach. Her skin is oily as well. I am going to make the face wash and moisturizer. What essential oil would you suggest for us to try for acne? I am thanking you in advance because I think this is what I’ve been looking for for her. You are very informative and such a delight to watch. Beautiful family too and congratulations on being debt free!

Put a few drops (3-6) on a little cotton pad and dab it on good right on the pimple , everyone’s skin reacts a little differently but even if it’s not the exact right one for your daughter it’s still going to help and if you don’t see a huge difference from tea tree then I would try mint or lemon. Odds are they are all going to be gone the next day, the really massive ones might take 2-3 lol Good luck

the bought stuff which are professionally crafted include ingredients (nature-derived if certified organic product) that improve slip and overall silky feel and luxuriousness which cannot be duplicated with just raw plant oils and butters and beeswax. Some incorporate water or plant hydrosols and aloe vera juice which takes this to a whole new level.

@Andreia de Távora using only plant oils and butters will leave the user feeling greasy no matter how much arrowroot powder you add which is why it's kept to less than 15% in formulations and the rest is water or water replacements like aloe juice for skin hydration and some thickener so it doesn't all just melt when the temp gets a little warm. Plant esters are great replacements for oils. Try them out.

Are you sure it is the arrowroot? I personally don’t find arrowroot “gritty.” However, Shea butter heated to a temperature that is too high will turn gritty. I ruined a couple of my homemade products doing this.

@@thegreenflea4887 Yes, 100% arrowroot. The first batch I made was mango butter and coconut oil, the second mango butter and Shea butter. Out come was still gritty although I don't think either batch overheated. Maybe it wasn't whipped thoroughly enough. I used a hand mixer and whipped both batches until they were fluffy.

shea butter is notorious to create grit when not cooled down properly. there's a scientific reason behind it but i don't expect that information in diy videos. try rapid cooling your oil and butter mixture with an ice bath.

oils and butters will turn rancid over time on textile which is probably what you're smelling and if you use it daily I suggest you change your sheets more frequently and use hot water. try soaking in baking soda in hot water and washing with a detergent. shifting to more water-based lotions with less oils will probably improve your situation.
