I think you absolutely need some sort of off white/ivory/cream. A white dress shirt with a light tweed is odd.

A pink solid isn’t bad. Burgundy, pink or red for white with contrasting stripes isn’t bad, either. Obviously, white with light blue, navy of royal blue for contrasting stripes is awesome. Light blue with contrasting white stripes is also awesome. Pink with contrasting white stripes is okay, too. Solids in white are a must. Solids in light blue are also awesome and okay in any near white. But yes, skip everything else. Everything else is much more likely to make you a target.

@@capt.raptor4650Medium and especially light colors that are not worn a lot get noticed by criminals. Criminals look for people that stand out in the crowd. It makes people more memorable when they wear anything that stands out. People that wear any colors that make them memorable are more likely to be victims of crimes, especially muggings and robberies. Wearing colors that are dark and/or popular makes people blend in. Criminals can’t pick out people in crowds. Or, it’s extremely difficult for them to do so. Inconspicuous is the only way to go. People actually can still dress up and be inconspicuous in today’s mostly casual world. Just stick to colors that are dark, popular or both. That’s the key.

I have white, black, blue, pink, gray, and purple. I would love to get some striped shirts. Also want a dark red shirt.

You said 2/3 of the shirts steve harvey recommended.. but for anyone starting off I’d recommend your basic black/White, & Powder Blue… if you have a bit of extra money you can start adding in stripes , cream, solid pink, and whatever else you think goes with your style

This is facts. When I was getting into suiting I gravitated towards white, Winchester, and blue shirts. I mixed them up when it came to the fabric and design. Every time I dressed up someone ask if I have a new shirt or where I got my shirt from.

I only wear one shirt and one pants and they are both casual from the supermarket 😊

The majority of people can get away with a white, a light blue, and take your pick of pink or a color that compliments your skin tone. That being said I like to keep 2 whites, 2 pt blue, pink, Lavender and a teal.

Just get 3 white shirts

It’s all about personal choice I think the suit jacket and shirt combination is swallowing your upper torso, but you chose to wear it to address your collective. See personal choices 😉

What precisely do you mean? I haven’t bought a suit yet but I’m not sure how fitment works and I’m not familiar with the styles

Well by personal choice, I wouldn’t wear anything that loose fitting, and if I’m having a bespoke suit made, it would definitely contour to my body better. He may like the look and doesn’t like slim styles. Or a myriad of other reasons. I will say a traditional double breasted BTAS (Bruce) styled suit/sport coat is calling my name 🤔 There are plenty of style channels on KZread that cover that very topic. If you’re more of a hands on person, go to a formal wear store get, fitted, and try a few on. You don’t have to purchase anything, but now you have measurements so you can shop online, thrift stores, etc…😊. Of course you also can get those yourself at home, but what fun is that?

@@GentStyle you are right, but don't get the blue one checkered. clean white, blue and one with vertical stripes (also prefer blue for it).

... opinions but fact is everyone needs a crisp white shirt a full wardrobe has at least 3 white shirts, plaids twills etc u name it. cotton 100%. then add a pink linen shirt, tailored for summer. then add a pink/azure(tealish) blue shirt. by the time you have a velvet short sleeve, or a silk shirt, u alreay dont need advice.

And unbutton your jacket when you sit down

I saw a pic of Peter Lorre in a suit with a thick gray shirt textured, no tie. Maybe 1940. Killer. Men can wear strong fabric. Not just these thin shirts.

The brother dress well but there's one problem where your damn socks maybe he's a little full of himself cuz he has two buttons I'm done for his shirt and as soon as too damn tight when you sit down some people think they're sexy... 😂... For you to tell somebody that don't listen to his opinion about shirts was good.... And so was yours... Opinions are like assholes everyone has one😮

Why

Do this instead. Quit worrying about your clothes or what anyone thinks about you and just be comfortable. Thinking you can or will impress anyone by the clothes you wear is a weakness!

Most people who dress well do so to feel good not to impress anyone, it’s not about expensive clothes, it’s just about having clean ironed clothes. Looking goofy in oversized crashes clothes is rather a sign of self disrespect and WEAKNESS. Most people I know who had your mindset always looked horribly put together in their appearance.
