    @@jamesetheridge337 There are always exceptions to the rule, but I wouldn't be going around BRAGGING about it. As one who has ridden a variety of bikes over a period of 66 years, I've spent some time growing skin back on from a couple of accidents totally not my fault. Once, while on Highway 49, had a car cross the line on a right hand corner (for him)....his left bumper hit my engine....and I was closer to the right shoulder than I was to the center lane...a few inches more and I'd been missing a leg...and totaled a five month old bike. As it was, I went flying over the handlebars and landed on my back 40' away in the middle of the road. Almost quit riding then, but that has now been over 30 years ago. BHE

    @blackholeentry3489 I am not bragging so much as js. I was ran over by a jeep on the highway. I had half my face ground and road rash everywhere. 7 days later looked normal with some redness. Broke 5 vertebrae, skull, jaw and a lot more. Excited to ride again been 7 years since then. My first was 16 years prior.

    Got a 11’ nightrod, I love it. Just wrapped my pipe headers (V&H performance joints) for the same reason. I know you trying to keep yours super clean but I personally like the wrap look. Good luck with finding the solution.

    Yeah no doubt Thanks. Thought of wrapping them before I got the ceramic coating... figured the heat wouldn't be a big deal. I was wrong lol. The Black coating looks really nice so you nailed it with the trying to keep the clean look. Last resort would probably be adding black wrap if nothing else works. I do like the wrap look, just depends on how the bike is setup.

    I got my first Vrod in 05, and been riding them almost non stop since. My most recent one is an 08D (Eleanor). I also have a 13F (Foxy). It’s truly hard to pick a favorite. If I could combine the Muscle’s styling with the dual exhaust and the Nightrod’s mid controls then I think she’d be about perfect.

    I've test ridden one, but hard to give up my Honda ST V4 1100. My first bike, in '56 was a 46 Harley EL 61....and put 140K on four Harleys over a period of 12 years, including riding 100 miles to work each day for three years....my last Harley being an almost new Sportster. At the age of 28, in 1968, I found myself raising two sons, convinced myself it was time to start 'acting more responsibly' and sold my last Harley. I went a year or so without riding, then one day my ex BIL came riding up my hill on a brand new Honda 750. Took it for a short ride and have been riding Hondas or Yamahas ever since. Now, I'm looking at 83 and considering giving it up...but then, there's that pert little redhead at the "Wind in Your Hair Cafe" who somehow fails to charge me every time I come in for breakfast..... she has mentioned she would like to go with me to visit the UFO museum in Roswell, NM....which is over 1000 miles that-away. BHE

    This is also my main issue (2016 night rod), currently have stock pipes with Tab slip-ons, had the pipes wrapped, shielded, still burns through jeans. Going to throw on a Bassani full system and see if it helps, if not I'm unfortunately probably going to trade it in next year towards a Low Rider ST

  • @mindspec808fpv7
    @mindspec808fpv72 жыл бұрын

    I have the same pipes...the issue is when the radiator fan blows, it goes through the headers which makes the air even more hot by the time it reaches your leg. Redirect the air from the radiator fan opposite from the headers or make a custom header shield which blocks some of the hot air from hitting your leg.

  • @RoadKingSino

    1st VRSC was an '06. No negatives at all. Sissy bar & T-Bags, too. It could travel, except for the frequent gas-stops. Could ride it from Yosemite/Vegas to San Diego, no problem. Current is a '17 Muscle. Got it because it was the last year. Hot as hell to ride. Wide rear rides completely differently, than the regular V-Rod. Bike wants to stand-up, on offramps. It is also not good on gravel & dangerous in torrential rain (drifted radically on a left turn, while stuck in torrential rain.) Sounds like a beast & accelerates instantaneously (much more rapidly than my '06. It can get to the end of the speedo quickly. Feels odd to ride it at 65, because it feels like a scooter, at that speed. For the pipes, I wrap them . Muscle has two side pipes, stock (have to install the single-side ones.) When going through tolls, I tend to burn my calves, while pulling out the fare. It takes the entire off-season, for the scars to go away. Really annoying.

  • @edharbas4828
    @edharbas4828 Жыл бұрын

    I think it's a matter of physics. The u-turn in the front header is a heat trap, less so in the rear one,as you can see. A change of configuration will kill that great look of balance & symmetry but might reduce the heat. Compromise can be a big pain at times and subnjectivity does'nt help one iota. Knees in the breeze.

Even with all the KZread videos out there, I’m not much of a mechanic.. I always take it to a HD dealer to get things done.. Piece of mind that way. If I tried it myself, I’d worry I’d brake something or have it fall apart. So I’d need money for that too.. For now, I’ll just deal with the extra pit stops for fuel I guess.

    I think if you install a spacer on the bolts that hold your heat shield, it will create a bigger air space between the hot pipe and the heat shield therefore making it cooler. I think 1/4 of an inch would make a great difference and to make it eaven better you could add aluminum insolation on the back side of the heat shield without changing the appearance of your header 👍

    There's an amazing new insulating material called aerogel you can buy in sheets. Try cutting some to hide behind your carbon fiber heat shields and see if that's enough to fix your issue.

    They made two different models of Vrod with mid controls. The VRSCR Streetrod 06-07 and the VRSCD Nightrod 06-08 not to be confused with the VRSCDX Nightrod Special 07-17 that’s generally known for being all blacked out.

    @@bothetinman772 WOW never knew that. The second one you mentioned I can barely find photos of it on google, very short run as you mentioned, unfortunately. Should probably be way better to ride and handle, although I think most people ''love'' front controls 'cause of aesthetic reasons. Thanks a lot for the info!

Love it but, that pipe has claimed at least a third of my leg. So many burns but I can't wear pants in Arizona or south Dakota it's just too hot. 😅😂

    A ceramic heat shield instead of a carbon fiber shield will do the trick. Open cell. If the ceramic has not been baked properly it might take a few rides to expell the water from the ceramic and get it to shield properly. But it will improve with use.

    Yeah they are all small tanks, even when you have the bigger size tank of the two. I really don't mind it being under the seat so much... I think it adds to the overall styling angle they where going for. It's definitely sometimes funny at the gas station when you are filling up under the seat lol.

    There is a buell model that has the false tank and the fuell is held in the bike tube structure. It says that it keep the weigh of the fuel low to help balance and handling. I always assumed that was the case for that design in the vrod. I have ridden a 89 fxr for years and love it but now that I am noticing these fat tire conversions I'm getting a new itch and I think I will have to partake in building one for myself. I think I would have to swing in the direction of something with mid controls and definitely a drag style handlebar set up. Did you make that speedo/tac... change to the tank area or is that something made available in years I have not seen yet. Super clean and something I would like since I like to leave my handlebar look clean as possible. Beauty build bro. I would also feel as proud of that ride as you do. Nothing wrong with that after all the creativity, time and money devoted to your passion. You deserve every bit of praise you receive. You are a biker and a artist. Ride ON!

    I will never understand why engineers insist on designing anything that would make people uncomfortable or in danger of burns or injury. It seems it would be easy to choose a design that would route the exhaust away from the rider and not just past legs that would feel like they were being roasted.
