About this channel: Welcome to my channel. I'm Amber Smith. My husband Granger and I live on a little farm in central Texas with lots of animals and our beautiful, super funny kiddos. We have London, Lincoln, River (who is now with Jesus) and Maverick. This channel is a spin off of our family vlog The Smiths.
I started Arise, when we lost our son, to share my feelings of loss, grief, love, hope, parenting and my faith journey along the way. We comb through scripture, I share what the Lord puts on my heart, I answer questions and more. My hope through Arise is that something I say makes you want to seek Jesus. He changed my life and my heart when I was in my 30s and I've been sharing the good news ever since.
Life is hard but God is so good. I pray you are encouraged each week. Make sure you subscribe and hit the notification bell so you don't miss any videos! I can't wait to see you Sunday mornings at 8am central! Welcome to Arise! You are chosen!

when you mentioned in your last Q & A that you looked most forward to seeing Christ and then River, I struggled with that. My son is going through cancer treatment and God has really been working in my heart to treasure Him more than the lives of my children. I am glad you were honest because hearing you say that helped me to see I was idolizing my kids. One of my friends lost her daughter to AML and watching her go through that loss has been so painful. To come to an acceptance that my children’s lives and the days of their lives on earth are in Gods hands has been so very scary for me. I think God helps us to face what we fear.♥️

“May your kindness, Lord, be upon us; we have put our hope in you.” Psalm 33:22. “And know that I am with you always, until the end of the world!” Matthew 28:20. We are Yours; We are loved!!!❤

Jesus protect my children both of my sons are special needs. I’m overwhelmed because I’m on my own as a single mother. My husband passed many years ago. I have no one to turn to, but God. Heavenly Father. Give me strength as I struggle to buy groceries, and as I struggle to pay rent every month is a struggle and I’m in fear of losing my home. Please keep my sons safe and protect us from the evil ones of this world. ❤️

Thank you for taking on this very important topic. I'm so glad you pointed out what I believe to be the greatest threat of idolatry, and that is the creating of a version of God that meets what we want Him to be instead of Who He tells us He is. I know that's something I have to fight against often. I also appreciate you warning us that "good" things can become idols for us as well (a spouse, children, grandchildren, career, etc.) Thank you for this great start to this Lord's Day.

A great message this morning and definitely worth sharing. I hope everyone has a great week and please remember what tomorrow is about. Two songs I listen to every year are Some Gave All" and "Traveling Soldier". I also share a poem or two I wrote, having been born during the Vietnam War it is dear to me to remember those who didn't make it back, including especially the 32 who died on my day of birth. Our soldiers made the sacrifice for political freedom but Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice for us that we may have eternal life.

This is something I need to do some soul searching on. Thanks for a message that will help me to straighten out some things that I had not thought about. Could you, at some point, go in to fasting a bit for us? I think that would be a good topic to teach. Hope ya'll have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend and God bless!

I see your point about news/politics becoming idolatry. I had not really thought of that one. I would love for you to do an Arise on how to maneuver being informed (if we even need to be informed) and not making it an idol. The news is quite a heavy bag of huge concerns. I guess I didn't think of it as an idol because it seemed like a place we needed to be informed about/aware of. I am not sure I can be aware without being consumed by the concerns. I would love for you to expand on how you handle all the negative without it becoming an idol or depressing. I keep going back to it because I keep praying for truth and honesty to become reality. I know the short answer is give it to God. That is so much easier said than done. Emotions and feelings of fear even come with following the news.

This hits home for me too! I am so deeply concerned about what is happening in our country, and what kind of world that we are leaving for our children and grandchildren. I can get lost in all of the evil and corruption. I just want to leave a better world behind me, and I dont thing that is possible anymore.

We don't watch the TV news so only get what we choose to read on the internet as there is so much misguided news out there. We recently in church were discussing what they were saying on the news about Israel but we have a mission we support over there and he was telling us via video chat what really accord.

A key thing to remember about the news, no matter the source, is that they are looking for the sensational to report, not the norm. In the news business, there's a phrase they follow called, "If it bleeds, it leads." They aren't so much interested in telling you the whole story. They're more interested in telling you the story they want you to hear. I think it's okay to check the news, but we should always listen to it skeptically and as objectively as possible. More than the news, though, I think we should learn to trust the world around us that we see. I know what the news is telling me about how people think and act, but that's not what I'm seeing on a daily basis when I interact with folks around me. The news isn't real life. It's taking smaller parts of life and magnifying them to make us believe that's what's going on everywhere on a daily basis.

Every single person sins every single day in thought, word or deed. All of us have committed sin without even being aware we are doing it. One of the most common unknown sins is idolatry, especially the desire and love of money. The Bible is extremely clear about the warnings of money. You cannot have two masters, you cannot serve both God and money. If money is more important to you than God, you will never enter the kingdom of Heaven. Remember, you came into this world with nothing and you will leave this world with nothing. The things of importance for man (money, house, new car, your 401K, fancy home furnishings, job title, your GPA in school) mean absolutely NOTHING to God.
