To be fair, they are seen in a good light by the low/medium-skill players (so the absolute largest part of the playerbase) as an equaliser. Sure, sweats still get to humiliate us with them because they are powerful, but they used to humiliate us without them too. The only difference is that these weapons are now considered equalisers, as we get a slight chance at winning too now. I've never had this many victories (still low, around 20 since the start of this season/chapter, but before I barely reached 10) and it feels great, because not all sweats can't counter them effectively. There are 2 solutions to this problem: either we keep them till the end of the season, when the loot pool will change again (so you could just quit being b*tches about it, it's not an eternal change) and accept that most of the players (the silent majority) like them, or you could get them removed/severely nerfed, but Epic would lose a bigger percentage of the largest playezbase in the game, us low/medium skilled players, because it's not fun being put in matches against people so much better than you. I've been playing ever since season 0 and I've never quit, but many others would, especially the many players that just returned because they heard that the game is actually fun again. This of course would lead to the inevitable constant decay of our favorite game, because less players mean less money/interest from the developers/quality/attention to the community. As they say in my country "you can't have a filled bottle and a drunken wife", you must sacrifice something. OR people could actually finally quit b*tching about Skill-Based Match Making (SBaMM) and let them inforce it properly, finally dividing better players and worse/medium players. THAT would be the real equaliser. And if anyone dares replying to shi last statement with something along the lines of: "why should better players get punished for putting effort? Low-skill players should put more effort themselves instead", I reply like this: most of us want to treat it as what it is, a simple game. We don't want to grind, we just wanna have fun as loyal casuals. I play to have fun, not to sweat all the time, period. They created ARENA for you goddammit, and you still plague normal lobbies because you feel no fun in dealing your annoying sweaty peers when you could be steamrolling us.

@@gauntlettcf5669 simple fix, have separate loot pools. That way if people want to complain about the smg they can just go into arena and the people that don't care can just play pubs. This fill fix your sweat filled pubs problem. Also, us sweats don't only play with other sweats, I play pubs and pub stomp every now and then because I want to play with my irl friends who aren't so good at the game. Try to understand other people's situation before being mad at them for beating you in a pub.

@@oshxdxw lmaooo I only use 1 smg and did you not read? I said my friend aren’t good enough to play champion league so instead I play pubs with them. I normally do play arena but you gotta understand that people have friends that they may want to play with sometimes.

Totally agree with these suggested changes and I have no doubt that Epic will work on balancing things out before we get into the competitive season. Even increasing the recoil on the MK would make it a lot more balanced and fair but I love the idea of first person guns and hoping for more weapon attachments to add variety to the loot pool. I think if the Shotguns were as strong as the smgs, then it would be fine even if the smgs were extremely strong. I think the new pump should get a slight fire rate buff and headshot multiplier. The auto should get a way quicker reload speed and honestly just make it the tac with a new look

Thank god this video exists. However, I might have to disagree a little on the Ranger, for some reason it feels like a Heavy AR, but the bloom and damage doesn't show it, doesn't even feel unique kinda.

The problem is that THEY LOVE THTE SPRAYING META, almost every season they leave one spray gun that is op and lower shotgun damage (or change the shotguns) right now the amount of guns is good but unbalanced

@@ADMICKEY yeah, the garand. The weapon just hits like a tank and rewards aim so heavily, so satisfying. The problem with the ranger rifle rn is that it doesn't hit as hard, and it takes a full second of being still for the bloom to reset. That's part of why I liked the infantry so much. The cross hair would reset almost instantaneously after you move.

I think the damage is relatively fine, but the best nerf would be to up the fire rate of the pump and lower the firerate of the mk7

It feels like epic have just given us rubbish versions of existing shotguns to change something for the sake of it. I dont understand it. I'm all for varying the meta so it doesnt go stale but there are lots of great options which they could have recalled, and if they want to introduce new shotgun it should be very different to the existing ones, much like the charge and lever where when they were introduced. I hope the game gets more balanced because other than the current balance of weapons this season looks really good.

@@nvisiondk8791 yeah man I hope ur right. I got fiber internet at the end of last season and my ping is much better than it used to be - about 25-35 ms in game. Really want that satisfaction of being able to pull off the plays I want, but the shotguns really dismiss that for me. Other than that though, I really like the new map and I don't mind the other things. I especially like the introduction to the 0 bloom red dot (albeit it's broken).

I believe that nothing will beat the pump, every time we’ve seen the pump removed, there has been big controversy and much of the player base is upset with whatever the new replacement shotgun is. Just my thoughts.

This doesn’t come close to capturing the full problem. No only are they objectively worse like you said, but the spread and range of the shotguns are also so bad that you’re only hitting for 20-25% of the damage you’d be getting from a pump or tac - it’s absolutely awful

My main problem with this season is yeah the smgs and ars being overpowered. Any meta where I drop my shotgun for an smg is just terrible IMO. I think that last seasons pumps were very balanced, I don’t know why they needed them. As a PC player, I feel like all of the mechanical skill I have worked on, piece control etc. is now no longer meta, as I can’t even deal a decent amount with a shotgun. That is one of the main reasons I like fn. But in this season I just die in less than a second to an AR, I have no time to react and it is incredibly frustrating. I hope they change some things because this chapter is not off to a great start in my opinion

If it is not broken don't fix it, people complain about the old gun meta being boring, but the reason why certain guns were always in the lootpool or getting unvaulted here and then while others not its because they were more or less balanced and fun to use or fight against but the new meta is just about spraying and eventually Epic will nerf or remove those guns just like in the primal season. Why not just nerf a bit the normal shutguns?? Instead of risking another season to go to the toilet like season 6 of chapter 2.....

I love the new map and all but the thing is that I can’t hear what the weapons the enemy is using because all the guns sounds the same

Shotguns have had a place in my inventory ( lol ) but now the feeling of the pump is sooooo slow it's slower than firing A SNIPER. It's so bad that by the time you try to fire your second shot you are DEAD. In my opinion anything can easily replace shotguns now whereas before they'd be my go to shotgun for the opener and smg for the spraydown then repeat to clutch multiple enemies.

This playstyle is pretty fun for me, me and my friends are not really the best of builders, so the smg can level the playing field, it makes my soldier like load out only challenge easier and actually possible to win. I have relief that its not needed to have a shotgun now.

The thing that balances the MK AR is the ammunition. It shreds your ammo so for high level comp its not the best.

One big problem with the shotgun especially the slowest one, when you're close to the enemy, i headshoted for 30 dmg.

My biggest issue with Chapter 3 is the extreme lack of variety in weapons. I really hope they unvault more fan-favourite old weapons to help fix that

How do I stop the Mk from bouncing so much when your aiming and shooting from far range?

This would be the perfect time to just put the heavy in. I feel like if they did that and tweaked the striker and auto as well as the MK and Stinger we would have a really good Meta. But until then it’s just sprays

As someone who came back to the game after 3 years, I’m having fun but it’s so disappointing how few weapons there are

Disagree with the MK-7. 25 is already very low for a legendary AR. Better to just reduce the fire ratd to 8.0. The Ranger AR definetely needs a little buff at the very least. I think a 2 damage buff for starters is the bare minimum. I think you're exaggerating with the nerfs to SMGs and they definetely were not picked up at all before this Season so Epic was right in their intent to buff them. It also "only" possesses a 30 clip magazine compared to the P90 and has a longer reload time aswell. I think it should just get a 1 damage reduction for starters and a fire rate nerf of 0.5 aswell (it's a good thing that SMG are comparable to shotguns and can be carried on their own aswell). So: 17/18/19/20/21 with a 11.5 fire rate 195.5/207/218.5/230/241.5 Striker Pump Shotgun and Auto Shotgun should both be equalised at 35ms for drawspeed (so that of the Tactical Shotgun). Striker Pump Shotgun also needs a 1.75x HS multiplier. My 2 cents

I agree that it is really unbalanced, however, you gotta give credit where credits due, Epics done a load for chapter 3, lemme list as much as I can - New Map - New loot pool entirely - the red dot sight - New mechanics (trees falling, sliding, etc) - getting the Web slingers out so soon, and weather on its way as well - the mythics in creative - All new NPC’s - and the bloody epic chapter 2 finale Gotta give credit where credit is due, Epics done a lot and I guarantee that it’ll get worked out soon.

How to play: Use striker for skill. How to win: Spam until they scram. They are not to same.

Re watching this while playing chapter 4, I'd say that this has only been fixed a teeny bit, but I think now the problem is that epic are changing things that don't need changing, take the normal AR have more bloom, the gold pump not being able to 1 shot to the head, and the charge, the tac not in the game, etc

When they buff shotguns and nerf smg and the mk 7 this season is gonna be so good

Additionally, the machine pistol (a better rapid fire smg) the heavy shotgun, grenade launcher and flare gun is said to be coming in to the game again.

At the start of the video, you either forgot to say or didn't realize that the mk 7 has the same exact stats of the combat ar besides the red dot sight

If the shotguns were just abit better, this season would easily be in my top three. Its such a shame Aswell because all the other weapons and the map are amazing

I think that mk and stinger damage to builds is really the only problem, melting builds like that shouldn’t be possible. I haven’t had fun playing this game like this in a long time though I really enjoy this season and what they have done with the game. The player damage for everything seems about on point with the newer patches, and I never really am mad when I die, unless it’s because I physically can’t hold a wall against a stinger

A cool idea is that the MK is a changeable weapon where you can change the barrel (more damage but more recoil and less fire rate, more fire rate which is the default one e.c.t.) and you can change the optic and also the magazine and maybe a stock.

Epic definitely wants to make fights more long and drawn out

Also with the shotguns I don’t think that we should compare then with other shotguns but rather with the current meta so fire rate should be prioritised with auto and slight damage buff for pump but not much bc there is good finish weapons

I think they should increase the damage of the ranger assault rifle

So I'd like to bring up that the combat shot faster had more range but where in the same ballpark with the dmg as the current shotguns, I'm definitely about it not being a one shot or hold to just delete people like the primal was, but atm they feel more like a finishing tool then anything else. Yet the smg outputs more dmg faster and can do so at a longer range, it actually has slower fire rate then the rapid fire but just so much more dmg that it still out dps's it. The reload is longer and it eats ammo, so for the smg just lower the dmg by a bit add more recoil and maybe just increase the headshots multi, you could do that for the AR as well. Snipers are now no longer one shots though you can still use 2 and scroll for rapids shots so it's fine, them having 2hp isn't that bad you can most likely swap and spray them with something if they didn't die. And yes their bullets do drop more and travel slower, pistols are also tuned down and are much slower as well idk if they really needed that. But my personal take is that this season is a lot more normal then anything fn has ever been, it's getting close to apex especially balance wise.

Next season Epic needs to replace the Mk with the scar, stinger with the normal SMG and the auto with the tac cuz damn

I think the biggest problem with shotties is always the chance of getting super weak shots that feel like bs, there should never be a situation where you hit someone up close for 20-30 dmg, they need some sort of dmg minimum based on distance or something. Things like the lever and new pump can put out decent dmg and feel balanced when they do, its the inconsistency that is a problem and pisses people off. The way the pellets end up functioning on weaker hitting shotguns needs some tweaks, I swear even if you left the new pump the same but made it so 60 dmg was the least it could hit for a HS or within a certain range people wouldn't be annoyed. I'm not a developer but maybe you could up per pellet dmg based on how many pellets hit as long as its within ideal range to off set some of the bs dmg factor haha. The problem isn't their maximum dmg output its the range of possible dmg, gotta shrink the range, if the new shotties matched the lower dmg shot averages of pumps but weren't capable of the higher dmg shots people wouldn't hate them. All it takes is 2 or 3 close range 35's that get you killed for players to be like fuck this shotgun, its shit. Dmg consistency is the key to making shotguns more balanced and feeling better.

This is what I keep trying to explain to people complaining about the SMGs while doing absolutely nothing to switch up how they approach combat situations.

See i agree with reisshub on most of the stuff execpt for the clutch potential. I've played quite a bit of chapter 3 and had some really nice 1v2 clutches when playing with my friends... I got a decent 1v3 clutch aswell so I personally think that there is still clutch potential even with the lets be real here very bad shotguns.

I wonder if epic ever thinks about what they do haha the tte needs to be increased, you never have a chance to respond to attacks now. I think the mk needs to be similar to the scoped ar.

I think it changes building a lot, because you can spray down sweats

Epic did such a great job this season like bringing old poi's back, making a new map, and all that good stuff but the weapons are pissing me off

The only things i get killed with are with a person using the smg and default skin, even if the smg is grey
